owning two teams in one league

PostMon Aug 26, 2013 10:15 pm

...and they're in the same division of a 12 team league. Should probably build 1 super team right? Although I think both drafts were solid, I will post team links w/draft cards tomorrow.

I think owning two teams in one league, unless it is a theme league where player movement between teams is impossible, is problematic. In my opinion, having two squads and then building one "superteam" from them is violating the spirit of fair play; it will make the lesser squad a farm team of sorts. I know the cap level will limit how much you can load up one squad anyway, but it still doesn't pass the smell test for me. For one thing, it is an end run around the draft and waivers process.

I am in same league and part of the premise was there were no rules .. you can build a super team. It will be interesting to see how it plays out.

I'd prefer to build two super teams.

Why draft the same guy on both cards?

It was experimental. In part to see who I would get on either team if I didn't get said player.

For EG: draft one I had Hornsby #1 and I got him. Draft two I had Hornsby number two (knowing I wouldn't get him) and ended up with Knobgobbler for his replacement. Know I've not used Knob's card yet so I won't trash it completely but as a replacement for Hornsby, I don't think so. But I expected a trade off with that draft strategy so I'm not crying foul mind you.

All in all I'm really shocked at how many of the premier RHBs I got. There was only one other extreme RH team in my league but plenty of RH & LH bomber parks. So for me to get Hornsby, Bags, Pujols, Beckwith, Kiner, Duffy, Jack Clark, Dick Allen, Mays, Aaron, Ernie Banks, Jeter and Fisk & Camponella. Not to mention Eck, Wagner, Papelbon, Regan and Lee Smith as RPs.

I don't think everyone realized from your first post you were talking about a league where everyone knew going in that everyone would have 2 teams. I think it might be interesting to try such a concept.

So draft Hornsby #2 and get Knobgobbler. Moral of that story might be if going to draft Hornsby make sure you go all in at #1. A good example of why for some cards you either leave them off the card or you make sure to go high enough to snare them.

Notice you did similar experiment with a few other cards. Most notably Phiester 9.69**
I would be interested in how useable a consolation you got for him given where he was on your card.
