Limit Usage Option

PostThu Jun 06, 2013 4:41 pm

Have an option where a league can limit the PA and IP of players not to exceed 10% of carded numbers. If a player goes over then substitute a generic batter card and a generic pitcher card.

Some leagues may not want the 100 AB guys dominating league play.

couldn't agree more with this 'WISH'!! it's very frustrating watching a RP with 30 to 40 GREAT innings on his card pitch 130 to 140 innings in a season which would be the equivalent of many 5th starters.

the player pricing system is not set up for this. Brandon Moss would not be nearly as expensive for example if you knew you only had him for 284 AB.

Which means you would have to have a dual pricing system. One price for unlimited use and one price for limited use.
I doubt Strat would ever go to that trouble.

But then again in theory all it would really mean would be adding a component to the pricing formula and then having the computer apply that to all players. So might not be as much manual work as seems at first glance.

It could add a whole new dimension to the game. Suppose you could could add that low AB but huge stats guy to your team for a small amount of say 1 mil and slot him as a bench player. How many injury prone players might we be more tempted to use if we had access to super subs that did not break our budget?

While on the discussion what if we could self-limit a player and get a reduced salary. So say I want to use Pennington as a super sub but don't want to spend 6 mil on a guy who will get less than 100 ABs. If I could pledge a limit of 100 that would be game engine enforced that would be cool. This idea too is probably doomed due to the work involved. But hey this is a wish list forum. Maybe in 10 years or so when this is a well oiled machine and every other really important feature has been added and it is either do something extra cool or lay off your last programmer.....

Just finished a season in which Bruce Sutter won 28 games, saved 30, pitched 316 innings in 101 games, and had 334 strikeouts to boot.

Take a look at the leaders in this league. Super-relievers are a blight and there really should be an option to have usage limits. I use the dang things because everyone else does but I'd love to not have to.

Yes, something needs to be done. I just noticed a pitcher in our league go 6 straight games; relief, starter, relief, relief, relief, starter. I thought a pitcher could only relieve 2 games straight, or is that only straight relief pitchers? A pitcher shouldn't be able to relieve, then start the next game, then relive the next 3 games and start the next. Hal needs to be smarter on usage!
