Not much to say anymore...disappointed with the results thus far.
Just out of curiosity, I know a couple from here play ATG, i'm wondering why more don't? Seems more interesting to me and a lot of fun to play with the greats of the past. I'd love to do an NLD version of it but I know it probably won't happen as most here don't play it. Any chance of that happening?
For those of you who don't play it i'd recommend you give it a shot...it really is a lot of fun building teams and many more strategies to try than in the 20xx game.
I have played just a little ATG. I'm currently in an AL round robin. I really, really like that concept for ATG, for where I'm at right now. It's so much fun for me reliving some of the cool teams from the past. I'm currently starting a season with the midwest expansion, which is essentially 2 teams - the Milwaukee Brewers and the KC Royals. I don't think there's many trade secrets for that concept, so I'll share here that I am SUPER PUMPED to have Molitor and Brett's best cards on the SAME TEAM!!!! Playing in Kauffman (actually Royals 1980). (17/20 for ballpark singles, 3/3 for ballpark home runs). Looking forward to seeing if I can get Brett anywhere close to .400 (real life was .390, but of course it's tough competition with a $100 million cap). I haven't had the Yankees yet - I've had Minnesota, Baltimore, and Oakland. Made the finals with Oakland, but missed the playoffs with Minny and Baltimore. Love the old Baltimore team, but they're ALL FUN!
I support your comments Corky. I've played just a few ATG seasons apart from this round robin, and they've all been fun. Definitely a different spin to the actual gaming, with the wide diversity of ballparks available. Basically means a little more strategy. The main difference from 200x is in the pitching, where the ATG SPs really did start every 4th game and go deep into games. I've had to really think about what roster strategies to use. I really haven't settled on anything yet.
