Looking For Veterans & Beginners

PostFri Sep 06, 2013 9:50 pm

Okay I know technically we are only supposed to post about the All Time Great Leagues here, but I am getting desperate. We have been trying to fill this 1970s Mystery League (with DH) for THREE WEEKS. We just need six more guys. All veterans and beginners are welcome. I am new to the mystery league concept, but it sounds very intriguing and fun. With the Mystery Leagues you have to pay attention to all your games and make roster moves to improve your team. If you are new to the mystery game or have never tried it, take comfort in knowing you will not be the only beginner. So put together a great 1970s 80 million dollar Mystery League team with DH and come join the fun. There is plenty of time and plenty of room. Thanks and good luck in all your leagues.

I have a theory you are more likely to find mystery newbies from the 200x forum. My logic is those guys tend to be a little younger. The really young whipper snappers go Mays who? I also think more of the 200x players first exposure to strat was the online game and their attachments is with the more recent players. So they are more likely to consider themselves experts on 70s player and more flexible about trying mystery concept.

Guys in my age group grew up with strat playing the oldtimers and deviations from the old board game play are accepted grudgingly. For the more liberal among us sacrilege is tolerated but for some of us the further from the original board actual dice roll the greater the sacrilege and thus more we are willing to toss some twigs on that bonfire under the stakes.

Now watch the NSA intercept this and flag me as being dangerous for mentioning burning anyone at the stake.

I just refuse to get involved in games where I don't have the ratings for the entire card set. I'd happily play other seasons, and the mystery games, if I had some opportunity to analyze the cards. But no card ratings, no play.
