The '60s has proven to be very interesting! I almost want to try Aparicio 1st or 2nd just to get that 1 at ss, but I like offense. And one team in my latest league has Aaron, Maris and Mays.....and a losing record (only 11-13 at this point, of course). And Morgan, May and Powell, too! I have Koufax, Gibson and Seaver - a reaction to crappy pitching on my other team. It's a different type of strategy, altogether.
I've had Aparicio twice and it hasn't worked out well. Can't imagine I will do that again. In one of my leagues I dropped him for Dick Groat and my team improved from below average to leading the division. I made a couple of other moves as well, but getting the money back from Aparicio helped me to do that.
I'm a big believer in strong defense up the middle, but it hasn't worked for me.
