ATG Batter Card Addition Survey -- Number 3

PostSat Aug 31, 2013 4:37 pm

Hello all,

Here is the link to the third batter card addition survey based on the wish list compiled over the last few years through the desires of the SOM playing community on various threads. The first two surveys covered the MVP cards not in the set plus a number of other players. The wish list link is in the PS. Please vote for those cards that you think have a place in the set, knowing that we all have different interests (60 mil, 80, 100, 140, 200, franchise, keeper, shuffle...). You can vote for each player on a scale from "very unimportant" to "very important". Even if you think that it will serve no purpose, please vote. It gives us just that much more to have to go to the SOM powers with specific community requests.

There will be more surveys, hopefully one per month. So how about three weeks on this one (which will give me a week to compile the stats). Any more additions to the wish list? Add them to the thread and I'll add them.

Bill

Just a bump to remind people to go visit the survey site to vote on possible additions. Remember this is the third survey: there will be many others to follow. It is to give guidelines to SOM -- in case they decide to add new cards.

what, no more lee lacy cards being requested? a franchise focus to buff up some of the teams would be great. we are all baseball fans who love our home teams. would love to see the Blue Jays teams enhanced (also more Canadian players-votto, stairs, morneau, martin etc)

/Would have preferred Tony Horton's 1969 year, and either 1996 or 1997 for Todd Hundley./

Have mixed feelings about voting for current players, though the game is All Time Greats, so I have voted to include some.

Hard to vote to include more cards for some players who already have 4 or more, like Rickey Henderson.

Would have preferred for Strat community to take a stand against inclusion of the more noted, if only suspected even if not proven (though how much proof do we need) , druggies like Bonds, Sosa, McGwire, Canseco, and some others (except possibly for their earlier years). They have done so much to ruin the sport for which stats are such an important part. In the past I have seen a few leagues which exclude these players and would like to see more such leagues since it is unlikely these players will be dropped. Not sure there would be a consensus on a period of years which would be considered the "steroid years", especially since the lying A-Rod seems to have covered the late 1990s to the present.

Added 9/15/13 - I did compleete the survey as well.

Have added Horton's '69 year to the master list as well as the '97 Hundley -- they will eventually get surveyed in a later poll ('96 Hundley was already there and was submitted to the community in survey earlier this year -- the '96 Hundley didn't get much love). The '68 Horton was there as a member of the '68 Indians, one of the better Tribe teams in the 60s and 70s. I didn't know the story of Tony Horton, a particularly sad one. Here is a link to an explanation of his sudden disappearance from the game:

Any other players and years? Let me know and I'll incorporate them onto the master list.

In the meantime, why not take the survey?

Thanks,

Bill

Inside, outside.....it's all a matter of perspective.

PS Wasn't me who proposed Held. Woodie was hand-picked by zeepstah.
