Do you know of the 8 hitters from the strike-shortened season of 1994, 7 of them are classified as "1" - susceptible to the 15 game injury bite. Only 1, Frank Thomas, is a 0, because I guess he has over 100 walks!!!
E.g., Jeff Bagwell played in 110 of his teams 115 games; but damned if he doesn't go down for 15 games once or twice a season if you choose him. Doesn't make sense. I don't think SOM/TSN factored in the fact that it was a short season at all.
Probably the only legit brittle dude is Paul O'Neill.
I have to admit that, previous to the league we're currently competing in, I thought that those who were concerned about long term injuries were a bit on the paranoid side. Most injuries occur on either a 2 or 12 reading, and thus have a 1 in 216 chance of occurring, so injuries would occur on the average about twice a season, with a decent chance that they might not even happen at all. And if a player did get injured, then it was only a 5% chance that it would be a 15 game injury. Now with the injury bug I'm experiencing with Eight Men Out, I'm paranoid!!
They're coming to take me away....
