My team names usually have some specific meaning. Some were musical (e.g. E Street Shuffles, Dire Straits Sultans, Motown Soul Trains), some were movie related (e.g. Sandlot Goliaths, Vodka Martinis), some hearken to comics (e.g. Thanagar Hawks), some were literary (e.g. Gondor Stewards, Aleppo Dogs), some from TV (e.g. Maxwell Smarts, Springfield Stone Cutters), and a bunch from science fiction (e.g. Arrakis Fremen, Mutara Nebulae, Gallifrey Vortex). Some were just names with real places (e.g. Helena Handbaskets, Hope Springs Eternals).
Right now I have a team called the Florence Nightingales. I'm doing a theme in a regular league: all the players have first or last names that could be female (or somehow relate to women). Missed out on Babe Ruth, but did land Hazen Shirley "KiKi" Cuyler, Baby Doll Jacobson, and Max Carey (who managed in the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League).
