I want that power behind other OB guys, and I really don't want him leading off with that high injury rating either.
I have to alter my lineup now, and when my starter comes back it will be 1 game into a three game series also---now I have 4 messed-up lineups in six games--and a tournament team too.
Also I had my #1 starter get hurt, and Hal puts in Casey Fein as the spot starter--which I have as my #1 guy in all my categories but closer---AND I have six starters on the team---why put Fein in there when I have 5 more starters???
There are really some bad/ridiculous decisions made by the AI .
I think a lot of managers would agree that HAL's choice of *batting order* is weird, and not what many of us would choose. There's a delicate balance in managing your teams. If you have a team that you're really working hard to make it succeed, and you have a long-term injury, then you may wish to "hard code" your injury lineup and batting order, so that it's what YOU want, and not HAL's choice. The only downside to this is that you have to remember to put your lineup back the way it was before the injury, once the injury is down to 2 games or fewer. And then for those 2 or fewer games, you have to live with HAL's batting order again.
Another alternative is to just move the injured player down to the lower part of your batting order. HAL will only change the batting order from the batting position of the injured player and lower. So if Bautista is injured, move him down the order to 6th or lower. Then your top 5 batters in the batting order will stay the same as you set it, even with the injury. Again, you'll need to remember to reset your order when the injured player is healthy again.
Of course, online strat does allow you to specify replacements for injured players. But that's not your point - your point is about the batting order with the replacement player, and the gyrations that can occur, that you don't like. My 2 suggestions (above) are the only things I know to deal with this.
As for putting in Fien as a starter - that's very weird. I didn't think strat would do that if you have another starter available. I would email strat about that - I thought that the game engine wouldn't/shouldn't do that.
