No one mentioned billionaires or millionaires except you!

Get a sense of humor for crying out loud! I know that's a tall order for socialists, but you can do it if you really try. :D

Statements like this prove my point. One has nothing to do with the other. And most significantly: no sense of humor. They still have a "workers paradise" in Cuba, and they have baseball. You'll be very happy. You'll be dirt poor with no opportunity and not enough to eat but you'll be living the liberal dream. With crappy government health care by the way.

lanier, I have to agree that auto insurance and obamacare are a ridiculous comparison. most auto insurance and home owner's insurance are required by the lender. liability insurance is required to protect the victims of an accident. and to help lawyers. still don't understand the reasoning behind obamacare? and all the exemptions and subsidies for certain government employees, freeloaders, unions, big corporations, etc. especially congress, white house, supreme court really bother me. if we're going to do it, then shouldn't everyone have to participate?

[quote="lanier64"One has nothing to do with the other.[/quote]

One has everything to do with another.
Look at your car insurance bill.
There is a line called under insured auto coverage.
That's you paying for the people who don't have any or enough coverage.
You or your employer also already pay extra premiums for other people who don't have health care coverage.
The new law is going to force everyone to contribute for health care.
And if people have health care, then they will be more likely to go to urgent care instead of the emergency room at 10 times the cost, which is what happens now and you and I pay for.

Or perhaps we should go the Cantor/Boehner way and repeal Social security, Medicare and Obama Care. Then all of our Parents could move in with us, but we could waste billions more on bombs, missiles and rockets.
I'm sure there are a few countries left that we haven't bombed yet.

Not interested in this discussion, you are wrong about uninsured/under insured coverage. Is an optional coverage to protect you in case the other person carries no liability insurance or a low amount. Your insurance company pays you. It doesn't cover anyone else.

I don't have auto insurance.
I hit your car.
Your insurance company pays you to fix your car.
They don't do it because they feel sorry for you, they do it because you pay an extra $20 every 6 months for uninsured/underinsured coverage.
In essence, you are paying my car insurance.
If every single person had car insurance, you would not need uninsured/underinsured coverage.
Because then my insurance company would pay to fix your car.

I don't have health insurance and go to the E.R. and get a bill for $14,000 I will never pay.
Hospital/Insurance companies jack up your rates to pay my bill.

But you are left in the dark because most people don't get a detailed line item health insurance coverage plan bill like you do with car insurance. Instead we get a meeting with a human resources director who tells us that for some unknown reason, rates keep going up and we have to raise your premiums.
So to help with this problem, everyone should get health insurance.
