realistic compared to what? bs concept. its a damn computer game. there are players whose cards always perform. cobb and pedro are 2. I've found a lot of value in cheaper players. there are also overpriced cards. strat tends to over price players based on defense. play the new 60's mystery game. 1 shortstop with a 1 fielding in the whole set! on 2 second basemen.

just finished a league where I had maris 61 year in a park whith #19 rating for lhb's. he hit 70 hrs. next were 3 players in the 50's, 4 in the 40's. very realistic. 26 starting pitchers, who qualified, had era's under 4.00. only 4 rps had era's under 2.00. with 92 innings being the most innings pitched. 58 sbs led the league as did clemente's .346 batting average. only one player has an OBP above .400. all in all a very realistic season stats. i'm impressed.

Wow we really don't like someone to point out 'our' game is slightly wacked... 4 pages of banter.

A side question, Is it harder now, in Version ATG7 to learn and get better at this game, or when I started in ATG 2 ?
I seem to recall running out of good SS and CF in the earlier versions. Plus there were 10-15 super special players that made the difference then, remember Frank Chance at 1b etc.

Anyone remember back in ATG 2 or 3 where the results were normalized. Babe Ruth would hit 60 homeruns in the first 80 games and then suddenly stop.
That was what happens when you try to inject realism into an inherently unrealistic simulation. How many HR would 2001 Bonds have hit in the Polo Grounds against the average pitchers in the 1920's? We will never really know because we don't have a time machine.
It's just a game but it's fun to imagine. Some people like to watch TV shows about ghosts or read books about witches. What would really happen when a level 14 Golem warrior faces a 5 star blitz panzer on Omicron IV? You can figure out that one on your own time if you are interested.

I wasn't so upset about knocking the game but the use of foul language here.

3 of the 4 teams with less than 100 homeruns made the playoffs. Also no super relievers, just old school 4 man pitch til they drop rotation and teams built for their parks (excellent home records). only losers need to insult people.

In both leagues, winning teams loaded their teams with power hitters into power parks, spent little on pitching, and just bludgoened their way into the post season. That just turns Strat O Matic into a video game. The top home run hitters were all over 90 HRs for the season. Stupid, and completely unrealistic. Pitching, defense, hitting for average, and running the bases become irrelevant.

A joke, really

The joke's on you. The "shithead" won a championship with pitching, defense, hitting for average, and running the bases.
