Re: Double team league

Can you explain your theories on #2 & #3? A drop is a drop, and how do you change a venue?

I'm enjoying my double team league (no holds barred type rules), but my situation is unique as my two teams are in the same division, it's an advantage seeing as I'm not overly concerned about getting both teams in the post season, I went for the one dominant team route. The advantage comes in I don't let me two teams duke it out (to me that is pointless). My dominant team is 18-0 v. my other team, one series left between them.

If you drop a player as part of a trade there is no cap penalty for dropping that player. Thus if you have 2 teams in the same league you can just execute a trade with your other team and drop any player you do not want for no cost. It is an incentive to trade instead of just dropping players willy nilly. An outstanding feature nobody seems to be aware of based on how many good players get dropped in all my leagues without ever being shopped.

How does that work? Let's say I trade player A to you for Player B. What you are saying is immediately after the trade I can drop player B, and pick up a player of my choice and I get full credit for Player B's salary in picking up another player?

In the trade screen you can drop a player as part of the transaction and you do not get penalized.

I give you ManRam, I receive Hornsby and then I drop Roberto Alomar.

Exactly, the team offering the trade has the option of marking whatever players he wants for dropping. There is no cap penalty for dropping players as part of the trade. That does not mean you can drop a player after the trade. If you do so after the trade then cap penalty will apply. This is a feature that was put in to help you stay under the cap when making an offer.

In Fudu's example the team offering ManRam might go over the cap if they got Hornsby in an even swap. So they would have to drop Alomar to make cap room. But if they did so before the trade and the other guy did not accept then you would have dropped Alomar for no reason and someone else might grab him while you were waiting on the other manager to accept or decline your trade offer. So the feature was added to allow for dropping someone as part of your trade. The no cap penalty was included presumably to provide incentive to negotiate trades instead of just dropping and adding players.

Alas, nobody seems to have noticed and most still try to improve their team by reducing the value of their team via drop/add.
