Eddie Grant

It is almost the 95th anniversary of the death of Eddie Grant, the first professional baseball player to have died in World War I. Grant was never the greatest of players, but he remains one of the few baseball players to have practiced law.

Wasn't there a monument or plaque honoring him in Polo Grounds CF near the steps leading to the clubhouse?

Yes there was, but it was stolen. Here is an article about the plaque being replaced in AT&T Park.

A man of many talents. His seminal 80's hit "Electric Avenue" still holds up today.

Wasn't Eddie also married to Lou Grant on the MTM show?

Perhaps because of his Harvard background, Grant refused to call for a fly ball by yelling, "I got it!" Instead, he would only say the grammatically correct, "I have it"

And even Strat did him right by creating a 1908 .69m card for him!
