Preliminary PC 2013 standings

UPDATED preliminary standings

As of games played Sunday October 27.

The ultimate point system is as described on the tournament main page, and the sign up page on these boards.

However, for the sake of having preliminary results that are comparable from player to player, the following point system was used. (1) Adjust player event results (i.e. wins plus playoff bonus points) by adding .5 for each game not yet played, where 162 games have not yet been played in a particular event. Fractions are rounded up. (2) The best 4 event results are counted. (3) Penalty points for re-using ballparks have not been applied yet.

** I have now added the bonus points for entering all 5 events, on these standings **.

I have not attempted to apply any tie-breaker tests at this time. For simplicity, I have just listed the standings in numeric order, without recognizing ties or tie-breakers, for my simplicity at this point.

Remember - the top 36 participants advance to the semi-final playoff round - 3 12 team leagues, with the 4 playoff teams from each of those leagues advancing to the final championship league!

also worth mentioning the low total gets dropped so
player JoeBlow might have more points based upon say their two lowest events both being 84-78 for 164 wins is really behind someone whose two lowest events are 86-76 and 82-82 for 164 wins.

Correct - although the way I did the standings above, I've already dropped the lowest score (at least the low score at the moment) for each player who has entered all 5 events.

But lots can change, as players' teams go on winning streaks and slumps. So keep fighting to the end of event 5!

Keep in mind that the playoff bonus points are fairly big, and can help someone sweep into the final 36!

I'll just say this is some tough competition.

Here's how I got to a projected 45th place finish:

- Tied for second best record in league, lost semi-finals in 6 games
- Tied for fourth best record in league, not in playoffs
- Best record in league, lost semi-finals in 7 games
- 78 wins

I guess I need my Event 5 team to make a major comeback from its current 49-59 record and get a lot more than 78 wins.

This was my first PC and though I'm projected to finish 83rd I must say I have had a ton of fun and look forward to trying again next year!

I'm updating the above post (by edit) to adjust for ballpark penalties of 20 points to each of "Phenomenal" and "Neil Toomey".

The tournament rules impose a 20 point penalty for re-use of a ballpark. I think I may have mistakenly applied 25 points initially. I have now corrected this on the standings in the previous post. The main web page standings will be updated and corrected sometime in the next few days.

Players with games in hand can either gain further points (if they play better than .500) or lose points (if they play worse than .500). Also, there will be playoff bonus points still to come. ^^ At some point in the next few days I'll indicate which of the above players are "in the clubhouse" - i.e. their points are final. I will also indicate how many games are left to play for the other players who have games in hand. I will indicate with an asterisk which players are either in the playoffs (with a potential for additional playoff points), and which players are in leagues where they have a winning record, and therefore potential points (without adding the points, obviously, at this early point in time).
