Pete Ward or Wes Parker?

I'm new to the 60's set and was wondering which of Ward or Parker have you noticed do better in your leagues. I was offered Ward for Parker. We've only played 36 games and I use Reichardt/Long in a platooon at first base with Parker coming in for defense. It's a $200 mil DH league too and I don't use Parker for my DH either. so far I'm 25-11 so should I keep Parker as defensive fill-in for late in games? Or is Ward that good?

EDIT: One thing that came up recently is my starting 3Bman (Don Wert) got hit with a 15-game injury last night and I just picked up Don Buford to bridge the gap. My starting SS, Maury Wills was inserted as current 3B and that didn't seem very effective. Anyhow, Ward can also play 3B is what I'm trying to say. Does that make enough of a difference to you? Also wanted to mention that so far, with two different teams, Ward is 0 for 15 and Parker is hitting .211 with a OBP below .200.

If he is not on his 1965 card, then make the trade right away. If he is on his 1965 card, don't make the trade; just cut Wes Parker and look for other options. Never use a defensive replacement at first unless your 1st baseman is a specialist against lefty pitching, then a "defensive replacement" can be valuable to get in the better hitter vs righty pitching. 1st base (along with pitcher) is the least important defensive position and you don't want to pull your better hitter in case the game goes extra innings. Wes Parker must have played first base very well, but he never hit good enough to be in a lineup.

There's NO way I'm going to find out what year Ward is in my league unless he gets used regularly...which he isn't at this time. So I guess I might as well accept the offer and find out for myself?

Oarker really only has one platoon side at that level. I would definitely take a shot on Ward, especially with the injury. Also, Ward is either good or bad, so you should now pretty quickly what you have.

I decided to play Ward (yes, I accepted the trade) at 1B for Long... ( I was playing in a 1-4 HR ballpark after all) not a good decision it turns out. Ward went 1 for 9 tonight. That makes him 1 for 24 with three different teams. I might give him one more night. I need to see some hits as in plural for each night! At least I won 2 out of 3 on the night though.
