PostMon Nov 04, 2013 9:57 pm

From: Player A To: Player B

They offer:
McGraw, Tug (1980) (P - R3) ($4,570,000)
Dickey, Bill (1937) (C) ($7,770,000)
Brown, Gates (1968) (LF,1B) ($5,020,000)
Cedeno, Cesar (1972) (CF,1B) ($10,550,000)

In exchange for:
Howe, Steve (1980) (P - R2) ($2,090,000)
Mackey, Biz (NeL) (C,SS,2B,3B,1B) ($6,970,000)
Mantle, Mickey (1961) (CF) ($13,510,000)

No I wouldn't do it. Mantle is a first round pick. None of the offered players are first round picks. Cedeno is pretty much worthless.

Howe for Tug is a NICE upgrade....Mackey for Dickey is a decent upgrade, but you already have Yogi, so it leaves you without a platooner, doesn't really help you. Some people really like GATES, but the problem with him is that HAL never uses him as a strictly vs. rhp kinda guy....no matter what you tell HAL he'll still give you 300 PA against righties and another 100 PA vs. lefties and those PA's are killers!....so I'm not the big Gates fan that a lot of others are and as far as Cedeno, I'll echo Widowmaker's sentiments....he's worthless, especially in a Shea.....it almost is Mantle for McGraw since I like Yogi almost as well as Dickey, it's like upgrading from Turkey to Oscar....which certainly isn't worth trading Mantle for Mcgraw....in fact, it's borderline insulting....but heck, half of the guys that play $200M are kinda sleazy in their offers...(no disrespect intended for the other half that are decent and classy)....just for the other half that prey on the newbies and try and take advantage of them

In a $200 league, you should never trade a top tier player (Mantle) for 2 or three lower tier players.

I would say hardly ever rather than never b/c there are circumstances where it might make sense-
however this doesn't appear to be one of em.
The thing is- its an offer- and one can build what might be something better off of it.
One thing is that (if I remember correctly) his league has at least 7 righty parks in it and only a couple lefty- just a part of the equation.

Your correct Salty! 6-7 Righty parks (4 at Minute Maid) and just 2 Lefty parks (me in Shea and one in League Park). The thing is.....you could offer me the world and I was not going to trade Mickey! He was my childhood baseball hero, got to see him play a couple times in Boston, and draft him every chance I get. Yes, I know, playing with my heart is not gonna get me titles, but on the other hand I play for FUN first and having The Mick on my team is FUN! By the way, are you in this league?

No- not in your league-
I only use my name when I play, so if it doesn't say Salty its an imposter.

I am currently playing 2 teams- a high for the year so far-

one is a recurring league with Delivery Boy and one 200 mill league.

There is no problem with you holding onto Mantle ever. I would only trade him if the pieces really fit and were exactly what was needed or if I had a bad draft and could get a few very good pieces.

I would not accept this trade as is but instead of just saying guy trying to rip me off treat it as a message sent.
He is interested in Mantle.

So if I am receiving this trade I ask myself if I can live with Cedeno in CF. If yes then I look at his roster and see if there is anything else I might be interested in. Maybe with some discussion guy sending the offer might give me Cedeno and Maddux. Maybe that might be me asking too much. Maybe we meet in the middle.

Regardless of outcome I think making a counter or just declining accomplishes more than calling it out here.
