216 stitches posted a nice analysis of the various strategy options in this thread. I just went with the obvious one of one lefty part and one righty. It was my first foray into the $200 MM world, and I figured if all went poorly I would just stack one team and hope for the best. But I got piles of great infielders and was able to swap them for the things I was missing. And I had the sense to just grab all the really lopsided pitchers in the draft given my ballparks.

I think my coming up with two such dominant teams (101 and 98 wins) was pure dumb luck though. I would expect FUDU's strategy of stocking one team as best you can would be the real winner.

I've since joined a bunch of $200 MM leagues. I would happily play either of my teams in this league any of them. But this was a once in a lifetime success story. And it certainly will be that for me, since I doubt I would try another league like this. It was horribly confusing to manage.

My strategy worked well for me. Ended up winning 114 games and the championship.

Again I had no intentions of letting my two teams duke it out, so you can see the end result of my strategy.

Unless you were rburgh or 216 stitches you need a ticket to watch the playoffs.

Seriously though top 2 W-L records belong to rburgh. Suppose if he were allowed 3 teams he would have won all 3 divisions.

But since he only had 2 then 216 stitches won one division and his second team took the wild card.

I might point out that:
(1) the team I have that won the wildcard got their based on a last day of the season road sweep versus Morpheus,
needing all 3 games to make the wild card. It was in Minute Maid and since two of my right handers couldn't go (Babe Adams and Ciccoti) weren't eligible to pitch that series, two lefties started for me in Minute Maid -- and won. So basically, a Hal special Spin it anyway you want, but Morpheus team lost on an obstruction call and pinch runner getting picked off, more or less. More of a stolen playoff spot than an earned one.

(2) My teams were only in contention because I copied/stole Valen's starting pitching strategy. My teams were under .500, I changed strategies to match Valens. Then they took off. Without Valen's strategy my teams would have floundered.

Well, stitches, for a guy who lust lucked into the playoffs you put up a hell of a fight. Battiling Ruth, Williams, Mantle, Gehrig, etc. to the wire before dropping game 7 was a hell of a performance. I thought I was going down in this series a couple of times.

So now we have perhaps the most irrelevant finals in SOM online history taking place. If understanding the various strategic options available in a league like this had any bearing on the outcome you'd be the one with both your teams in the final.

As it was, we probably had one of the strangest playoff series ever, with the road teams taking the first 6 games, usually by ridiculous scores. Then, of course, game 7 was my Mike Caldwell against your Slim Jones. Both starters went 11 innings for 2 runs on 7 hits. Then Mathews yanked one with a man on off of Barney Schultz for the only home team win of the series.
