@Corky Yeah, all salary is not created equally. It's interesting as a rough measure however. As for Ratings vis-a-vis sims. WM and I did sims a few years back and saw a tremendous amount of variability. Maybe if you run 100 times you might get a consensus from the results, but I'm not sure. Ratings are certainly a more accurate way of predicting the average result, BUT, that assumes the ratings are accurate. ;)

@Big M You spent about $2 mil over the average, but you didn't spend *that* much and you're only .8 more than #6 (Zim) in pitching dollars. Your OB isn't great and v LHP it is pretty lousy. Good thing there aren't many LHP in your division.

@Zim look at it this way, the park *has* to help your hitting!

Anyone else have a comment on the numbers above?

Joe i'm not sure if you and wineman had all your settings the same as SOM online or not. That could have altered your results. There is a page somewhere that lists all the settings here exactly as they are.

Perhaps that's true. So, Corky, please share the results of your sims then! We can compare to the ratings when I complete them.

Joe its not an actual sim of our league, its a10 year sim of all players on their regular teams all set to my park, so its not something you can really compare to your ratings.

So it basically just tells you who is good in your park?

That's sort of comparing apples and oranges then since I'm actually putting a team rating together.

Made a move tonight due to the plethora of backward RHSP in my division. Since McDonald was playing more at SS than Pennington, let McD go and went with Cozart. Not a huge upgrade v RHP and a big drop v LHP, but I *think* it's worth it. Also had to make a move in the pitching staff unfortunately, but I don't think Venters is going to get a ton of IP anyway.

Joe

Now that I'm back from my final China visit tour (six cities in 4 days), I'll take time this weekend to sync my team view with your "ratings".

Glad to see my team ain't dead last :D

joethejet wrote:Corky,

Interesting notes on the three divisions. Thanks.

As for ratings: Still not enough info on the RPs, plus, teams tend to make moves for a bit longer. I can make the following observations however:

Money Spent:
Code: Select all
.......   Linup   Pit.   Bch   SPs..   RPs..
GBrook.   38.1   37.8   4.1   28.50   9.33
DJ.....   40.9   29.4   9.8   22.19   7.17
Semper.   44.1   30.7   5.2   20.22   10.43
Jeep...   45.3   31.5   3.2   20.16   11.37
Big M..   46.4   30.9   2.7   19.10   11.77
JTJ....   43.1   31.2   5.8   18.36   12.79
Stoney.   45.7   28.2   6.1   18.36   9.80
Zim....   42.4   30.1   7.5   18.10   11.98
Hawk...   44.5   28.1   7.4   17.56   10.55
Big A..   48.5   29.0   2.5   16.19   12.78
AT.....   51.3   22.9   5.8   12.79   10.14
Corky..   56.4   18.7   4.9   11.24   7.48
Average   45.6   29.0   5.4   18.6   10.5

Given these numbers you would expect Corky to be #1 in offense and last in pitching. AT not far behind. Of course AT is in a low HR park and spent far $ on fielding.

GB spent the most, by far, on pitching. I'm surprised to find I'm third. I think mostly because of the lack of offensive players I liked.

GB spent $28.5 mil on SPs! that's more than Corky, AT, Hawk, and SToney spent on their entire staff. He >$6 mil more than the next closest DJ

JTJ and Big A spent the most on RPs.

Fielding
Code: Select all
Big A..   203
Jeep...   364
AT.....   375
Keyzick   398
Hawk...   473
Big M..   484
Semper.   538
JTJ....   546
Corky..   573
GBrook.   595
Stoney..   634
DJ.....   685
Average   496

Big A is again at the top of fielding, no surprise there. This is one of Jeep's better fielding teams. AT and Keyz aren't far behind. Hawk, BigM, Semp and JTj are right around the average while Corky and GB trail. Stoney and DJ thumb their noses at defense. "We don't need no stinkin' gloves" ;)

In terms of HRs, Corky, Big M and Stoney average more than 5 bphr v rhp. AT, Keyz and GB are all under 3 and JTJ is at 3.

Big M has the most "real" hrs v RHp (5.18) with Corky at 4.51. GB is at a lowly 1.72. It's pretty clear he will be last in HRs I would say.

V LHP Corky, Stoney and DJ > 5 bphr, Surprisingly Big M drops to 9th. The same trio, plus AT are at the top of "real" HRs v LHP. Hawk, Keyz and Gb are at the bottom of HRs v LHP.

All for now.

Enjoy

Hey Semp, there are no ratings there except for fielding. The rest are just raw numbers from the teams.

Yep that's it Joe. I don't have time for an extensive rating system. This allows me to fill my team with the players I feel fit my stadium best. I do not have sims for other teams.

Interesting, only a couple of teams make moves before the 5% hit went away. Semper (of course) with the biggest changes.

Semp, what to discuss? I'm trying to figure out why you picked guys up and then dropped them so soon.

My team sucks (again). I have lost in every conceivable way possible. :(
