First Moose, Im sorry to hear about your father- no matter when it happens its never easy.

Second, Please continue to try and understand that I believe most of us feel that the posted rules (ex. comments deemed destructive to the community- as interpreted by their holiness) are already a shadow of what we used to have at some other site.

While we are all here initially to play a game- any activity where interaction between peoples occur is part of that experience- if it was strictly about strategy then why not just have an 'expert' or 2 answer all questions?

Some "business experts" don't understand the concept that their community is their single most important asset, or they would prioritize it.

Salty,

I don't know you - maybe I did from years past under another alias. But for the most part, I've come to know that Nev and a few others, leave off-topic posts from time to time. While I do tend to feel that the message base should be left for topics that fit that the sub-forum, for the most part, I just ignore them and move on.

But on this day at this time, what I saw was a lot of obscenities masked by spaces and "read between the lines" and this particular post, when also considering a half dozen other off-topic posts littering the ATG forum, just went too far.

I pay my money - buy my 5 packs same as you - and if something is posted that is offensive, it's my right to report it. I was only really reporting that one post, but it was ultimately SOM that decided what to remove including at least one post that had more of a heartbeat than others.

I know we have called for a "bull pen" forum and maybe this is what we need. But this is a private company running this and they do have liabilities to consider, or they wouldn't post rules at all.

Moose- I only play under my name- (but damm you must not be paying attention- most folks who have been here a few years know me, even if they don't like me)
and as I posted earlier- we don't have a history until recently.

Liability only extends to things regarding sexual harassment or physical threats and religious/racial harassment.

There is no liability regarding 'behavior deemed destructive to the company or community'

While a 'private company' might be legally entitled to censor anything they please, my point was not about legalities-

you might have 'the right' to report anything you want-
the point is that right now even, we are continuing to experience random enforcement of the 'written' rules.
Half of what is currently on the forum and 95% of whats worth reading would have or has already been taken down or hasn't even been able to be spoken about.

As a tangent to that, writing things like S*** isn't against written company policy unless once again, its being re-interpreted on a whimsical 'I feel like it' so I am right basis- no matter if one thinks they know what it means- that's why *UCK is only an asterisk U see, kay?

There is a term for what Nev, Salty and Last Druid do on this website. It is called being a troll. Creating dessension is the goal, game set and match for the majority of their posts. To say they are concerned about the "community" is a joke.

When Sporting News had a open spot for a stratomatic tournament with celebrities such as Curt Schilling, Doug Glanvile and others, we were offerred to choose one from the ATG community to participate and Bobby was being nominated, being a successful businessman and having run so many great tournaments out of the kindness of his heart and paying for prizes on his own this would have been a great reward for without a doubt the one person who did more for this community than anyone ever did, what was said. Last Druid, then Petrosian said it should be himself but definelty not Bobby as he was not a good enough player to represent the community. Nev agreed and pushed for Bill Jansen, who helped developed player values and ultimately a repricing of players and who was ultimately voted in by the community to represent us and stopped playing ATG a few months after this celebrity tournament entered.

So now here is the gruff Moose, truly thanklessly running the most successful tournament we have here, getting extra prizes, allowing everyone to play in a tournament that might be a little out of their comfort zone. Putting virtually every rule change and options up to the community for a vote, resulting in very good participation in an excellent well run tournament. Moose must be of course run down and demeaned as by the 3 trolls as a successful tournament does not fit in with the demeanor they would like to establish on this game.

What of course is stopping Nev, Salty and the Last Druid from running their own tournament? Nothing! However, they would then have to deal with disgruntled players and if anyone thinks Moose is too gruff, I can't imagine what a tournament would be like if people were running afoul of that trio!.

So here is my challenge, start the initial annual three troll tournament! I thnk you three pretty much know everything there is to know about most everything and would get pretty good participation in an ATG tournament and could make an annual tournament to crown the best player of ATG in the rules you see fit to do.

I think Moose is getting a pretty raw deal from the three trolls and I only see the work he puts into the tournament, I hate to see him go the way of Penngray, Rob55, Bobby and others who contributed so much over the years.

The Troll King Resurfaces!

PostTue Nov 19, 2013 9:31 pm

Ah, the Troll King crawls out from under his rock to finger point. Schimpf ( :ugeek: ) is the most bizarre poster ever on this site and far more toxic than Grindi ever was. Apart from putting his hoof in his mouth, Schimpf's attack post does serve at least to make MM look normal by comparison.

Truly a case of the pot calling the kettle black.

Charlie-
This about the umpteenth time you've commented without knowing a blessed thing about what we were talking about- and made a false assumption and ran with it. Wish there was a profession suited for that, you'd be a shoe-in.

You might try reading what Nev and Druid have said and rather than ASSUME again TRY and understand it.
But heaven forbid you learn something from 2 people who use logic in their arguments- I'm sure its quite frustrating for you.

I don't remember any of that, really, none of it, but I do know I've never said a negative thing about Bobby....

As for helping the community...well yes and no...most of what I do, both good (mentor plenty) and not so good (rant and rave) is done privately...You haven't walked in my shoes these last 12 years and know so little about me and my history here.... like the drive I took to meet Bernie to go over the state of the game back in 2010, or the 2 hour drive last summer to meet Hal Richman and staff, to give input there as well, just to name a couple... ...You know so little about what you speak of in this instance too (because I know of no one, here, there or anywhere, more fair minded than Salty) that you should just shut up and keep your ignorance to yourself..You're way off base here.... Funny thing is, you know Charlie, we got along well for quite awhile, I didn't start out with the frustration and contempt I have now for many..including you...Do you really think all the rantings are just me tilting at windmills....

Just to refresh your memory and Moose as well...

My first encounter with Moose was sometime early in ATGII when I wrote a lengthy post thanking everyone for their advice in helping me learn the game (Bobby, PJMB, Treyomo, Tkl) and I finished by saying I was finished. (it didn't take lol) I also mentioned you, Charlie, saying I thought you were the one to beat moving forward...Well the post got many responses and every single one was positive...I was told I'd be missed, and that I had actually helped some as well....But then Moose posted...my first dealing with him in any way....See I knew he was responsible for the ATG record books, but it didn't interest me...I never visited, never posted any records there, never interacted with Moose....it just didn't interest me...so it was to my surprise Moose posted on my thread, this thread of sunshine and joy....and he posted "How "ungrateful" I was for not thanking "him" too. That one post, his first to me, spoke volumes about the type of person Moose is

I can't speak for Last Druid or Salty, as apparently you can...but for me, I don't want to be committed to "have to play" in leagues with people I don't like.

BINGO!

The ONLY thing I said about Barnstormers is that its not a measurement of regular league play-
REPEAT- ONLY THING-
The rest of my arguments were on 2 other topics-
Mainly being that there was censorship of threads- (and why the rules are in fact randomly enforced)
and the other which is related about commenting as an authority on 200 mill without having played it.

I have zero interest in tourney play and even less in records- have never said anything negative about either to my recollection.

If a person cant be bothered to read what I wrote before commenting, then is it any wonder they just make wrong assumptions about what and why things are being said?

Re Nev's last post

That must have been just before I joined ATG II. I wonder if Penngray posted on that thread. You seemed like the best manager here to me when I joined although he would have disagreed. While he was brighter than Moose and unlike Moose, not entirely clueless about Strat, he too was clearly a bully and his favorite target seemed to be Nev. Nev never seemed to defend himself against Penngray's constant putdowns. I wasn't sure what the dynamic behind that was about. Anyway, never lacking in confidence, I challenged Penngray to enter a few leagues with me but he always ducked me with various lame excuses such as I hadn't proved myself etc. Then when I made a post about him having more credibility if he didn't spell like a third grader, Schimpf and Rob55, jumped all over me. Of course, I didn't really know then the full extent of Schimpf's immense talent at butchering the English language and his extreme inability to write a coherent paragraph. Anyway, I was sad to see Penngray go but only because I really wanted to demonstrate to him, again and again, that he wasn't the manager he thought he was. But in the end, the guy did develop a live draft with salaries, something Bernie and his recently added colleagues, haven't done in nine years. And he did give me motivation to play the game, if only to kick his butt.
