Can you name one suggestion you have made to SoM regarding how to improve the game or the community?
Just one potentially implementable improvement that either of you have come up with?
Let me know when you come up with just ONE thing either of you have said that COULD be a contribution.
Anything either of you have said that even warrants its own topic of discussion?
I would prefer not to have to be called out to defend myself of being worthy of having done anything for the community but I guess this has made me feel I should respond what I think helping a community is.
As for helping the community, I have always tried to help in any way I could - to teach new players how to improve their games. I spent endless days reviewing players teams and offering suggestions when asked. I was in ATGII one of the most successful small ball players, Nev once asked me how I did it and I sent him my entire strategy for winning with small ball, knowing full well with the number of teams he played that it would make life more challenging for small ball. But I did it anyway as at the time Nev argued strongly on the board (Imagine that) that the game was too inconsistent with pitching to win consistently and my teams were almost totally pitching based. My favorite trophies I own are the pair of bronze baseball shoes that Rob55 won and sent to me after helping him in one of the annual Las Vegas tournament Bobby ran and a Cubs sweatshirt sent to me by Bobby for making the finals of one of his tournaments. I have contacted SOM and had credits and 5 packs for players who were either discouraged with the game or did not have enough funds to play in the game transferred to them.
I offered a $500 donation to your music students as a donation as an offset for an offense you thought I had made on you and the students regarding a team name in a tournament that I questioned your logic as being racist in the hopes this would lessen the offense you felt I caused you. You sent a nice note back letting the subject drop without either accepting or rejecting the offer.
I joined every Good People tournament under Bobby and others he ran as well because he was making donations to worthy causes in the name of the tournament, and the more that joined I think the better Bobby felt and I thought that was at least something I could do. I joined the barnstormers board because Moose asked me to provide help and guidance with the tournament and vote and help guide rule changes. I do the best I am capable ofon the board, if I disagree with a point in the discussions about the tournament I state my case and accept the decisions that are made. If there is/was someone in the tournament I didn't care for I just put that aside and played. As an example I very strongly advised against allowing Petrosian to be added to the board becasue I though he was destructive and would just quickly quit. However, once Moose made the decision that he wanted the best player on the board I agreed to cooperate and work with him, which I thought worked as well as possible. If I am viewed as a negative for the board and I am asked to resign I would do so but quitting is not in my nature, and that is why I have never resigned from the board.
I try and donate to everyone that has a fundraiser and requests funds here on the board that appears legitamate to try and help them out. If a league is having trouble filling and is looking for a player and I can I join the league even if it's not my favorite style because I keep myself open to new ways to approach the game. I have created topics on the boards in the past detailing interesting statistics that occur as a result of the gameplay. This is what my concept of helping the community is.
No, I do not go on the board pointing out flaws and claim with every change that is made that I am helping the community and making the game better. I have at various times stated my dissatisfaction with Petrosian/Last Druid and yourself and Nev, mostly as a result of most of the conversations on the board taking a decidedly negative take on various topics or individuals.
As far as I am concerned the game itself needs little improvement, that this is not a universal position I realize that obviously, others would like a live draft and I understand that, manager ratings others really want, or maybe monthly player addtions, but do they change the game? Not for me, I like the game as it is, a mathematical representation of historical baseball players that are combined by the player in order to win more simulated baseball games than the competition. I am not against most changes either though and if the game changes I will learn to adapt. It is a position I learned from PJ Axelsson after getting so very upset after the dramatic change in effects of small ball pitching teams through pricing in ATGIII.
Any changes i find now are usually advantageous for anyone that studies the games as other players tend to make more mistakes. But really it is just about learning what the new math equations will bring. Some prefer to short cut this process by purchasing Joe the Jet ratings, others by claiming the game is unflair and needs to be changed, but this is a math game based on baseball, not a baseball game displayed by math and I enjoy the solving of the math itself. There will always be mathematical calculations in this game or programming options that can be challenged as wrong but does that improve the game? Maybe for some but for me it just changes the math of the calculations.
