There is just so much luck involved. In a franchise league I'm in my team had Schmidt batting .180, Campanella batting .170, Kiner batting .220, Sandberg batting .200, Wynn batting .179 blah blah blah. There were only 2 hitters in my starting 9 who were hitting anywhere near .300.

About halfway through the season and 18 games out I ditched them all. The team is doing much better now, but the season is blown.

I can't figure it out when stuff like this happens. One season Lajoie hits .395, in another he hits .295. Weird.

If Johnson is on pace to lose 20 games, what can it hurt to ditch him? He loses practically every game anyway.
