I was in the tournament that voovits referenced on the second page, and I stunk out loud. Best record I had was 78-84... worst was 58-104. And I had won championships in both 70's and 80's at that point. So it was pretty humbling. I have mixed feelings about trying again. It wound up being a waste of credits for me, and I don't have a lot of money to spare at the moment.
One thing that made that league fun was that there was someone giving out a bunch of bonus prizes . . . I seem to remember a Marichal jersey and an autographed Canseco bat. Some were for good accomplishments, some were kind of random, and at least one was for the ten managers with the worst overall record - I was in the running for that one but didn't win. I can't recall who did this, but it definitely kept some interest for me after I was out of the running.
As for DH/no DH . . . I'm an NL fan and prefer no DH normally, but yeah, HAL pinch hits for even the best-hitting pitchers. Or uses them to sacrifice. It doesn't bug me either way, but I do think it should be settled before people start setting up draft lists.
Individual stadiums - I thought this was more so a manager didn't take the same stadium and same strategy throughout the tournament . . . as in, I don't choose a HR-friendly park and make a team of sluggers repeatedly; I have to at least choose a different stadium and maybe alter my tactics.
I'll hold out a little longer, I'm still considering. It does sound like fun but I was pretty frustrated last time and it wound up not being a lot of fun. Obviously it could and should be . . . just have to decide if it's worth using the last of my credits or not.
