Mystery Game Tournament

I'll say it again....if you followed the PC Tour approach and created one league at a time and people just load when ready, you would have a half dozen leagues already loaded by now and in the preseason, while sign ups continue. If you randomize for league entry you could end up with 8 leagues all sitting there with each waiting for a manager or two to load....for a while, and none moving forward. It sounded like the whole point of randomizing was for fear of other managers, which doesn't seem to make a lot of sense to me. The PC Tour approach worked quite well.....

I think we need to start the tournament before people lose interest. I suggest that we put out a request for a radomizer for 1-108 and set the 60s leagues according to the sign up sheet with randomizer numbers 1-12 in league 1, 13-24 in league 24, etc. If necessary, spots 109+ could make one more league when (and if) it fills - but only after signups 109+ are used to replace people that don't join their assigned league. Got to keep the momentum.

This makes complete sense. Can we get someone to randomize 1-108. Maybe we give the assigned managers until midnight next Tuesday to enter their team, and then we call for backups (from 109+). The goal should be to have all 9 leagues filled by midnight next Friday, so all the leagues can start Monday the 16th. We also need to plan around the holidays with the 70s leagues.

i agree, the "scary manager" thing was just a vocal few that are probably more used to getting walloped in ATG. Mystery cards + HAL = just absolute craziness.

With the random division all ready built in, I could care less who is in my league.....and many should feel the same way. Plus....we are up to almost 10 leagues, let's just let it rip with 10 created leagues at once for 60s and 70s.

I would still suggest starting the 80s and 90s at the same time, around game 82-100 of the 60s and 70s......not all at once, I do a ton of teams and even i think 4 mystery sets at once is a bit extreme.

Strike while the iron is hot and set up some leagues today. Many people will lose interest if this drags out ... me included. If someone scared of another manager, they can wait for another league and risk being left out.

The last time I was in the PC Tour the thing was constantly looking for alternates and fillers. Then once it was full you had to wait for everyone to load. Someone would drop out (sometimes ending up signing up for a different league) and you'd be short or someone would not want waivers on the weekend so they'd wait until the next Saturday night to load. I guess they must do it better now.

It seems that with the mystery method if all league assignments are given out tonight or tomorrow and then you have til say Tuesday or Wednesday to join or be replaced by an alternate, we'll have every league ready to go withing one week of each other, and if incredibly lucky they'll all start the same week. There is really no excuse (save for an emergency of some sort) for not having a team ready for loading next week if you are serious about playing in the tournament. If someone can't make that commitment then they shouldn't sign up.

If the goal is to start the 70s about 1 week after the start of the tournament then you need to have the leagues start close to each other. Also you want the leagues to end very close to each other. In the last tournament I think it was a two week wait for the last league to finish. It wasn't fun watching as you slowly dropped closer and closer to 13th for two weeks.
