60s advice

Im in my first 60s league. got boyer and reggie as replacements in the drafts. both seem overpriced but it seems like there arent man good cheap 3Bs in this format. I usually play a "4" at 3B in other formats but the 4s left over dont seem to hit anywhere close to Boyer. Is he a keeper? what about reggie?

60s is just like every other mystery game. If you get a good card, he's a keeper. In general, though, you should expect fewer runs scored, which favors both good fielding (there's not a lot of it compared to the other games so take a good glove when you can find one) and big hitters (a rare breed compared to the other games). I would hang onto both of those guys.

While I haven't played a ton of leagues, the most consistent 3B is Eddie Mathews. I have had some success with Ron Santo as well. And Killebrew is a perennial first-round pick. Boyer (I am assuming it's Ken, not Clete) has just one stinker. The rest of his cards are really strong for the 60's set-- and he's super durable. You are not gonna see a whole lot of .900 OPS in this game.

While Reggie (I am assuming Jackson) is a little overpriced, he's not if you get the 69 card! Plus, there are more corner OF alternatives out on the wire as the season progresses.

I have played in enough leagues with you...you will figure all this out very quickly!

I ended up with the same two missing out on Killebrew and Mantle. Keeping Boyer, no real option. Not sure about keeping Reggie. Looking at Monday or Pearson, but the way my team currently lays out, I need Smith for the power.

Keep Boyer unless you can get a good upgrade at another position with the money you save dropping him.

It seems like the cards aren't really consistent. They are priced for the great years but they didn't include enough of those years on the cards.

I wouldn't keep Reggie unless there's no other option but I've never had much luck with him in any decade.

I haven't done well and haven't finished many seasons but in Fenway I got 40 Hrs and 108 RBI from Max Alvis. Since 4s don't matter see if you can get Al Smith or Jim Ray Hart. Dick Williams has a couple of productive years and Danny O'Connell isn't great but he's cheap for at chance at a decent OB Pct.

Boyer doesnt have any great years against righties. Looks like one amazing year, one solid year and two decent years that aren't worth 7.8M. someone offered me Jim Rat Hart for him. HE has two great years against righties and 3 drop years. Problem is that only saves 2M. Not sure that is worth the fact that Boyer has 2 more playable years (even if those 2 years are ntot exciting).

I don't think Killebrew ever makes it out of the 1st round. He's one of the few guys that have an 80% chance or better to be worth the price. I'd even play him in left!

I like Hart. He has two years that are really good and you can probably get a cheap platoon for the 5R year. 1968 isn't bad other than he'll kill you with double plays. His year should be easy to figure out by injury and you get a non-injury tell on double plays between 66, 68, and 69 his less desirable years.

Dumped Reggie for Rick Monday. The division I am in has only two left handed starting pitchers and four left handed relievers not counting my team. Sitting with over 3M to spend with nothing to spend it on.
