One more thing for the gentleman who thinks Ozzie compares to Brooks or Brooks is not deserving also. You better look at the hitting again. Ozzie for a while was awful with the bat. Brooks had some pop and Ozzie was strictly punch and Judy (and not very good at that either....I mean ....under .260 8 times ). HOF should be good at both hitting and fielding. Now this opens up the Frank Thomas mostly DH thing but you can't not put the big hurt in. So if you still think Ozzie belongs ...then certainly Trammel does along with Vizquel when it comes time.....and I am sure at least half a dozen more.

She does have a valid point, and I tend to agree. Why punish the steroid users and let the facilitators that looked the other way, and benefited from PEDs in their clubhouses, get off scot-free?

One of the commenters after the article has an interesting perspective:

These old, staid institutions don't matter anymore. I didn't need Scorcese to win an Oscar to tell me he made great films. I didn't need the Billboard Top 100 to tell me what music to listen to. You don't have to watch the big 3 networks to get the best television. You don't need Playboy Magazine to tell you who the best porn stars are, and you don't need the Hall of Fame to tell you Barry Bonds was one of the best who ever played.

Times have changed, analysis has changed, and these institutions can't keep up. They're relics. We don't need to treat them as an arbiter of what's great.

Have to agree with Risdon on Thomas. Guy hit 527 HRs. When he only hit 29 HRs and only drove in 109 everyone was asking what is wrong with Frank Thomas. For about a 10 year stretch there is not a RH bat I would rather have on my team.
