Congrats, Jake Squid, on capturing 2 more wins last night, and clinching a spot in the top 36!

Likewise, congrats to blsmith7 for also capturing the win he needed to clinch his top 36 finish!

Unfortunately, for GoDucks, his League 8 team was eliminated from the playoffs last night. Jake Squid also clinched the Western Division title in League 8.

With that, coachtwitty is officially in the 36th spot. There are no tiebreakers to resolve for the 36th spot. Congrats coachtwitty!

Kire, T.Richardson, Jeepdriver, thisisdan26, and scumby finish 37-41, respectively, and will be alternates, if needed, in the semi-finals of the tournament. Congrats to them on a very strong tournament!

I will post updated standings after Friday night's games. However, this is mostly for posterity's sake, since the standings are live and accurate on the tournament main page, here:

In terms of final placing in the top 36, that won't be completely known until the playoffs wind down for Leagues 8 and 9, since 3 of the playoff teams in league 8 are in the tourny semi's (Jake Squid, ROGGIE, and team nasty), and 1 in league 9 (NYY82602). Their playoff bonus points will affect their placement in the top 36, which will affect the seeding in leagues and divisions, and the order of ballpark drafts for the semi-finals.

The only player in the top 36 who will have games still to play after tonight is NYY82602, whose league 9 is one week behind league 8. His finish in the top 36 is already clinched, but his level of finish will be determined by his remaining wins, and playoff bonus points (he is very likely to make the playoffs in league 9). So the final order of finish may not be known until late this month, when the playoffs wind down for League 9 (or until NYY82602 loses a playoff series).

I will set up a sign-in page this weekend, for all 36 finalists.

I will also assign leagues and divisions to players whose order in the top 36 is already known. I will update this periodically to include other players when their order of finish is determined.

Congrats again to the top 36. And congrats to everyone who participated! It was a really great group, with lots of camaraderie and fun! Great competition!

Now on to the playoffs, as soon as we can settle down that order of finish!

As of games played Friday December 13.

The ultimate point system is as described on the tournament main page, and the sign up page on these boards. The main page is the official point total, and is now almost final and complete - there are just a few players now who are still playing games, or are still in the playoffs, in leagues 8 and 9.

However, for the sake of having preliminary results that are comparable from player to player, the following point system was used, for preliminary standings- (1) Adjust player event results (i.e. wins plus playoff bonus points) by adding .5 for each game not yet played, where 162 games have not yet been played in a particular event. Fractions are rounded up. (2) The best 4 event results are counted. (3) Penalty points for re-using ballparks have been applied. (4) I have added the bonus points for entering all 5 events, on these standings.

I have not attempted to apply any tie-breaker tests at this time. For simplicity, I have just listed the standings in numeric order, without recognizing ties or tie-breakers.

Remember - the top 36 participants advance to the semi-final playoff round - 3 12 team leagues, with the 4 playoff teams from each of those leagues advancing to the final championship league!

Please be aware that the above total includes games in hand, at a rate of .5 win per game in hand. Therefore, these standings are still **preliminary**.

Some players who are ranked highly still have to "play out their seasons". Players with games in hand can either gain further points (if they play better than .500) or lose points (if they play worse than .500). Also, there will be playoff bonus points still to come. So keep playing till the last out! You never know!

Players who are currently ranked 37-41 should keep checking the standings periodically, if players fail to check in for the playoffs, or can't participate for some reason, then the replacements will be picked - in order - from the next highest finishers from those 37th and subsequent ranked players. This is a real possibility , as it tends to happen every year.

All players who are projected to be finishing 1-36 should look for the information on the playoff rounds (posted on other threads on this "Players Championship" discussion board, and should check in on the thread that will be set up for that purpose on or about December 15.

By now, this is just a copy and paste from the main leader board, but with 5 points added for ROGGIE with respect to his semi-final victory - but here it is - note that ROGGIE and NYY82602 are still active in their playoff races, as is cwitkowksi.
