remember a good number of assists from outfield come on perfectly executed relay throws (plays at the plate). Many times runners go because these relay plays are not perfectly executed most of the time. I watch pretty much every Yankee game and the boner running plays happen far less frequently than here in strat.

Nobody today can hold a candle to Manny Sanguillen when it comes to crazy baserunning. I remember a game when he had the almost unassailable record of being put out or picked off of all three bases.

With a 2 out single and a man on 2nd, I have no complaints getting thrown out at the plate,
If I have at least a 50% chance of scoring and it's not late and I'm losing by 2 or more.

The current state of base running is pathetic. To think that the majority of players listen to their coaches is a fallacy. I have my doubts that coaches even bother to teach baserunning anymore except maybe the obligatory spring training drills. My personal pet peeve is the number of runners who look over their shoulder (instead of watching the base coach ahead of them) to see what is happening on the throw that's coming behind them. Running with your head turned in a different direction that your body takes at least two steps off the progress to your destination. As nearly perfect in the fundamentals of the game as he is, Albert Pujols does this all the time. Almost all of the lesser players do this as well. This tells me that either A] players pay no mind to their baserunning coaches or B] coaches don't even bother any more.
