BTW, Robert mentioned taking 4 hitters in the first four rounds, and then a pitcher in the 5th round. But I'm not sure we are all on-board with that or if you even read it?

So, I propose that the draft is wide-open with your five picks; i.e., you can take a pitcher anytime you want. Is that okay with everyone? Will that be a problem?

I wasn't aware of that. Its not a very good way to distribute talent. In fact, it would be a very bad way to distribute talent.

It would explain why Maddux hasn't been taken.

I think if some managers were playing by those rules it would be best to just say pitchers can be taken as soon as the 3rd round and let Rob take Maddux instead of Puljous if he so chooses. If some managers were holding back, I don't think its a good idea to open things up mid-round.

That's my 2 cents.

Its a good reminder and I think it should be the 5th pick. Just my opinion If the rest of the guys want to pick a pitcher then ok

Someone explain to me the Maddox fascination. MLB tv has been talking about the HOF vote coming up. Yes I think he's a first ballot HOfer, but I would take so many other pitchers over Maddox. Maybe its because I'm a Mets fan and he often killed us unless Piazza got a hold of one, which btw he should go in. Also, Biggio, Thomas, and Morris. Ok, let the ridicule begin.

The thing about 4 position players and a pitcher was just an idea that popped in my head. If you think that was bad, wait till you hear my idea for teams made up of players whose last names all begin with the same letter.

I can explain why Maddux has the best SP* strat card in the online game.

Bernie liked him as a kid and he controlled new cards. He thought his card should be the best SP card in the game.

IMHO, that's historically incorrect. Walter Johnson or one of his peers (Matthewson, etc.) should be historically the best pitcher of all time.

But within the game,if you rate the card independent of the name on it, the best SP* pitcher is Maddux.
It had to be somebody. And I guess since there is no Babe Ruth in the SP legions, there will be more room for putting forward a favorite over actual history.

BTW, I never said you would like my explanation.

Hey Rob. I didn't mean to go all upside the head on you. My apologies.

But normally, for a game, you want more choices that can impact the game, not restrictions on choices.

And all the standard formats of the game, managers are free to prioritized on either pitching or hitting as they see fit.

So in summary:
More choices: good, more restrictions: bad. I can be a simpleton at times.

P.S. Please have more ideas.
