Hi Gbrookes great job running this tournament. Is there a gentle, professional way that we can nudge along the ballpark drafters to pick faster? In my division for instance only 3 parks have been drafted since your opened the draft four days ago on 12/31. Painfully slow. Yes, I know everyone has lives but there also needs to be a rule of reason on speed.

Respectfully yours,

Nasty!

Thanks Nasty. I agree, but apart from me watching this and paging people when they are slow to pick, I'm not sure what else to do. Also, although it is slow at times, MOST of the managers are making their picks quickly (I was also one of the offenders). I think now that we are getting past the new years time period, that the picks should come fairly regularly and relatively quickly now.

Agreed. One correction though. Jake Squid is the team who is "up" in Division 3.

^^^ thanks. BTW, if a player doesn't "show up" after reasonable efforts and time, then he may be replaced by a substitute.

gbrookes I want also thank you for running the league. As far as I could see everything ran smooth. Now I am reminded of the hassle that can be associated with a large body of people who are suppose to be marching in the same direction. For my league(2) we are on day 3 waiting for someone to pick. That is completely unacceptable. If this was to happen for the draft in the finals it would last a decade. I am sure that there could be some legit reasons for the lack of voter participation; a march to the North Pole, a car accident and someone is in a coma, the NSA confiscates someones computer or perhaps someone forgets they are on the planet with others.
I think what will be needed is some type of time limit on picks. Also someone could use a proxy if they know they will not be available for a pick, they can let someone else in the league know of a priority of picks of available players or ballparks. That way the draft can move along.
I thank you for your time which I imagine has been considerable.

I'm going to give spicki17 till Monday 12 noon ET to make his pick. If he doesn't respond by then, he will forfeit his place in the final 36 and will be replaced by the 37th place manager in the tournament.

By not making a pick, he is failing to check in for the tournament semi-finals. /Geoff

If a replacement manager has to step up, where does he fall in the ballpark draft? I would think he'd logically drop to last and everyone else would move a up a notch; but I know what happens when you ASS U ME. ;)

The replacement will fall to the lowest rated position within the ballpark draft for that semifinal league only. In other words, the replacement won't affect the other semifinal leagues. Within the same semifinal leagues, I will also adjust the division alignments based on the revised seeding for that semifinal league.

Would it not be unfair to adjust divisions after some managers have already made their picks? Managers are presumably picking ballparks in part based on who is in their division, and on previous picks by other managers in their division.

So managers who make their picks before divisions are "adjusted" would get thrown into a different division than the one they picked for, while managers who have not yet picked (including the replacement) would have the advantage of knowing who is in their division and/or any parks already picked in their division.

Usually in these situations the replacement is simply plugged into the spot he's replacing, to avoid messing up the divisions (or seeding) for everybody else while the draft is underway.
