Ben Oglivie 1980 hits 60 HRs -- is that interesting?

PostSat Jan 04, 2014 10:36 pm

I hadn't played ATG in like 4 years -- recently had a team -- Ben Oglivie 1980 hit 60 HRs and had 141 RBI in Shea 71 bphr LH 1-19

is that interesting or ho-hum?

hey thx nev -- used Morgan .94m and Burns .77m vs LHP, Morgan OBP v LH 387, and Burns OPS vs LH 864

example

http://onlinegames.strat-o-matic.com/game/347723/464

but often started Hershberger in low-HR parks, to reduce Mauer injuries

and dropped Maz for Whittaker at game 130 or so, needed more hitting

still curious if the Philosopher Ben had a really unusual season or if people have seen that before for him in such parks

I've used Ben a ton. He's one of the best bargains in the set, especially in lefty parks. He's usually good for 40-50 HRs, 120 RBI, .270-.290 and .330-.360 OBP at a $100 mil cap.

Here's his best season for me.

I use him all the time, I agree that he is one of the best values to be had. Obviously great in lefty bias parks but he holds his own in neutral and righty biased parks. I use him in Minute Maid all the time and his stats stack up nicely with the plethora of righty bombers in my line-up.

Big Ben in LF or DH. Who is his right-handed counterpart? I would say Albert Belle who doesn't hit lefties well in 80M or 100M leagues at 6.8M. I'v'e seen Pedro Guerreo 5.41M put up some good numbers as DH especially against ME! Kevin Mitchell does well too.

Sincerely,
Delivery Boy...

The righty version of Ben is the 78 Rice. Had equally big seasons from him in righty parks.
