Nah, I've been reading on here, and apparently the best way is just to copy one of nev's teams. Just check any of the threads on here, and there'll be something in there about it.

Your division is Royals 80, Royals 80, Forbes 57 and Dunn? I would load up on cheap pitching, especially lefties. Grab Bennett if he's available, but any value pitcher with a ton of BPHR's is going to do great in that division, like Candelaria.

You've got a lot of smallball OBP types but you are really playing in hitters parks all with high singles ratings. I think you need some more pop in the lineup. I'd upgrade guys like Leibold to guys who can get you an extra base hit.

This isn't apples to apples due to pricing, but here's a team of mine that won a ring waaaaay back in ATG3 in Royals 80. They almost scored 1000 runs:

High BA, lots of doubles

I brought in Pujols and Flick for Sisler and Tobin. I upgraded Lindstrom, but I'm sticking with the 4L Frisch. The pen is now McMahon, Page, Klinger, Scheib and Shirley. My starters will be Plank, Galvin, Vander Meer and Trout.

Thank you for all the suggestions. .500, here I come!

You should use Higbe, Harris and Sadeki.

Definitely like Sadecki if available. Hate that particular Pujols in any park (I love Anson and Sisler). Not crazy about a zero arm catcher in a high singles park without better pitcher hold ratings.
Love Frisch, just not that card.
Like Bush.
Love Lindstrom.
Love Flick.(Prefer him in center)
Never played that Speaker but looks like a decent buy.
Not crazy about Leibold with his lack of extra base hits, his average base running and his poor clutch.
McMahon rocks in any park.

I like pujols in a power park...you are wasting salary in royals stadium.....sisler is a better choice given your stadium

Sadecki and Harris were available, but Dizzy Trout's son Steve started the first MLB game I saw in person, so there's that.

I chose that particular Frisch card for its super-advancedness and to save a little salary.

As for Pujols, according to my data, there are only 5 other cards with as many or more extra-base hits against lefties and righties in Royals '78: Ruth '21, Ruth '20, Duffy '94, Aaron '59, and Mitchell '89.

I kind of like this team. You know, it feels right. I hope we stay healthy--2-1 after the first night!
