I think owners should have the option of keeping their park if they are happy with it though. We would have spent 2 years building a team to suit the park after all.

I propose that owners have the option to select a new park as one of their Spring FA picks at the start of each season. So if you want a new park, it costs you a pick. Owners switching parks would then select their 40th roster player after the completion of the FA draft.

Sound good?

for ballpark, interesting, never seen it that way but works for me. I do not think you need to select 40th guy, unless you are dropping 15 players (the maximum). Your 40th guy would be one of your picks. Say you drop 10 to get to 30, then you have 11 rounds of picks (asuming no trades of picks have been made) possible. Perhaps you change your mind if the park you wanted is taken already, so you would stop after 10th round. If you select a new park say in 5th round, then your 40th player would be in 11th round.

Only concern I have is that you do not know what parks are avaialble until you pick, easily resolved if you want to change park it must be dropped before draft starts.

Dave,

Your are absolutely right about drops / picks and getting to 40. I should have thought of that. And I think you MUST declare and drop your park prior to the draft, so that all those needing a new park know which ones are up for grabs.

To be honest, all of my other keeper leagues restrict park movement, only allowing for park trades. I don't like being stuck in a bad fit park, so this flexibility appeals to me. But I don't like the idea of being forced to give up your park.

Never forced to give up park, you keep for as long as you want. I have seen ballpark draft after FA draft, just easier to deal with and usually not alot of managers do it, so it doesnt take so long. That is why I suggested once every 2 years for changes, if you want.

Im not really a big fan of changing up the rules after we have all signed up for the league.I am in at least 10 keeper leagues and all have the 10 prospect rules(and as Big knows I am one that loves trading for prospects as well as picks.if you cut it to 8 then that takes away quite a bit of late season trading IMO.

One thing that we can do in order to start the draft is to have a 36 round draft using the player set from this current season using only the players that were carded and then once the new set comes out we can have a "new" 5 round draft for any players that had any abs or ips during the 2013 baseball season(such as Fernandez or Bogaerts. This can be in reverse order of the initial draft.
