quick question on auto leagues

I'm looking at the league browser and there are a number of Auto leagues with the same settings that have 1-2 or 4 teams in them. Will these leagues be consolidated tonight, or do they just stay separate until they fill?

It seems a bit foolish to have all these leagues separate, when their are enough managers to start a new league.

Every time I try to join auto league with my new team, I get put back into my own auto league (of which I'm the only team- boo)

They all stay separate until full, or until everyone drops out creating 0/12, then during cleanup that league is removed.

I'm curious. Why would someone start a public league that uses the same default settings as an autoleague?
