Saturday night's live draft did go off almost perfectly and with the mimimum one minute time limit we were able to complete the draft in 64 minutes. The only issue is the league was supposedly frenzying at 11:00 p.m. per a box on the league standings page (see below) however the frenzy actually began as soon as the draft was finished.
However, Bernie and co. in their infinite wisdom failed to include any information about the time limits per pick when you try to join a league. There is a workaround, you can type the information in in the description area when you create the league. I did this and also named the league Petrosian's Minute Live Draft:
LEAGUE: Petrosian's Minute Live Draft
Player Set: ATG VII
Skill Level: Advanced
Draft type: Live Draft
Salary Cap: $999,000,000
Managers may own multiple teams: noDH Rule: yes Waivers: NO - FRENZY at 11pm ET on day league fills
FA Drop Penalty: 5/10/20%
Postseason Format: 2 rounds: Best-of-7, Best-of-7
Opening Day: Monday, Feb. 3, 2014
Description: 1 minute per pick. DH. Frenzy, Graduated drops
Most of the forming live leagues don't convey any information regarding time limits. This has given me pause about joining any such leagues. For example, the latest forming league created by Bob Hoser, uses the description box for a silly blurb about it being a good night to Frenzy since Tuesday is supposed to be cold. I'd like to join, but I don't want to get stuck win a draft that could theoretically take 10 hrs at a 2 min per pick limit. Even one player taking their 2 minute allotment every round adds almost an hour to the draft.
I know SOM said they are willing to have faster limits once the live draft has been up and running for a while.
But 30 seconds should be plenty of time for experienced managers, and both 30 and 45 seconds should be added as options ASAP, IMHO.
And in the remotely likely event that they ever manage to restore the manager ratings, SOM could actually create a meaningful distinction between advanced and regular leagues but making the faster live draft limits "advanced."
