Live Draft Results...

PostTue Jan 28, 2014 12:45 pm

On a scale of 1-10, how does everyone rate the Live Draft for those who had the balls to try it? 10 being best, 1 being back to the drawing board and give free credits. My first live draft went well, until the chat went off and so did the sound. No Frenzy afterwards, teams only showed 16-17 players on the rosters after picking 25 players and froze with the inability to make any transactions, not even a simple trade. OK, we got it fixed... somewhat. Is asking for free credits a good tradeoff considering we'll have to go through the same ordeal again with a freebie but not have to feel so bad about it? Misery loves company. If you fix it, they will come.

My rating is a 3 on the basis of:
1: SOM did advertise a live draft with good graphics and picking a time to draft.
2: We did actually draft players in order.
3: The live draft ended after the 25th pick by the last team.

That's about all I can say...
Sincerely,
Delivery Boy..

I've been through two 999M cap drafts.

The very first on Friday evening had a 30 minute delay because of some snafu with the chat section, but after that - smooth sailing.

The second one last night went off without a hitch - smooth all the way.

I'd give it at least an 8 or 9 at this point, just based on my experience - not taking into account others' war stories.

You are a generous man Dr. Freeze!

SO far, I havent done any live drafts even though I have interest in it- not because I knew for sure (although I suspected) stuff would go wrong,
but simply because there continues to be no responsibility taken when it does.
Its nice to see others speaking up about what a few people have been saying for the past couple of years.

Honestly, I cant imagine what it will take to have a change in attitude/policy from management (they like to blame the complaining customers when things go south) but good luck.

Sorry to go against the grain here, but the live draft that we had last night was awesome! Everything went smoothly and there were absolutely no glitches. What I really liked was the players aligning on your team roster as you picked, being able to view what positions your opponents were drafting as the draft proceeded, and various chimes sounding when a player was drafted or a message was posted by another owner. Sounds like there was a problem with a couple of drafts, but last night's was very enjoyable.

Bob-
Im hoping they get where there are zero issues with the draft-
Id really like to do a couple.

The thing that I beef about is more about the wrong stance and attitude towards mistakes and frankly caring about the product that are being taken in general.

Happy customers are good customers, and while sometimes the customer is to blame for a mishap, its when they are not that illicits a response from me.

I love the idea of the live draft with cap. I think that it took an incredibly long time to reinstate (how many years and lost customers have there been since the move from TSN), was inadequately tested, and that the response and communication from Strat-0-matic was Strat-0-spherically inadequate.

I rat the game itself at 9. Love it....wouldn't play if it weren't great, but the online game support has a very high suckage rate

the live draft I just went through - rate it 1. would have got a zero, but I did enjoy the anticipation, the chat with other players (until it kicked out in the first round), and the sense of commeraderie afterwords at how bad the draft had functioned. (plus I got to pay $16 for the lousy experience and waste at least 3 hours on the process - how great is that)

I rate it a 1,was in the draft that draft that D elivery boy is talking about.G reat anticipation was wiped out after the 3rd pick when the chat was gone and unable to see the picks as the draft was going on.After the last pick it did get us back to our teams, but we all had 17 players and everything was frozen after that,Maybe the problem was it was a frenzy. Many of the testers didn't think they tested a frenzy after the draft.Hopefully they have it right now.

As long as there is a significant change that your LIVE draft won't actually be a LIVE draft, evaluating anything else is kind of pointless.

Bu you asked for feedback.
I have been in 3 drafts and all went well. The new format includes all the old format has with two enchanced areas:
(1) there are about half a dozen new or enhanced freatures
(2) the player format more closely resembles the autodraft format. Its familiar and you use the same basic features in autodraft and preseason teams.
also,
(3) frenzy after the draft makes way too much sense. long overdue.

So when the draft runs, its actually better than before.

But, again: there is no feature as important as reliability.
Even though my 3 drafts ran prefectly, I have in the past been a manager at a draft that doesn't happen. Its is the worst possible experience. Its like showing up with a group to a party and the door is locked, or showing up to a stadium finding a sign that says game changed to a road game.

I enjoyed the new draft experience very much. I had actually stopped playing on-line strat, so its nice to be back playing.
But the awareness of the draft being kind of a game of russian roulette, "will my draft go off as planned?" puts a blanket on my enthusiasm. The wait to reinstate LIVE drafts was kind of long too, no?

So it can't actually get a number. The rating is "incomplete."

My thesis is this....I contend that nearly (not all, but 90%+) of the play testing of the LIVE drafts was done at the caps of $80, $200 and $999M without FRENZY and SOM was DISHONEST when they promised us a bug free product that had been adequately tested

....I would further contend that those that speak favorably of their LIVE DRAFT experiences, had POSITIVE experiences with caps of $80, 200 and 999M without Frenzy....However, I don't think SOM did adequate simulation with other caps, especially with FRENZY to follow...as a result I don't think SOM has any real idea of how stable the LIVE draft module is at various caps...I was and I guess continue to be the commissioner of the league Chuck is referring to....Doug, Hackra and Dr. Freeze have also commented on the draft...I sent several messages and emails to SOM asking for them to explain what testing has been done at ANY of the other caps and/or with FRENZIES....they have conspicuously ignored ALL of my emails....One of the teams was completely hosed, was given Higbe on back to back picks in the 14th and 15th rounds, SOM NEVER resolved that matter with the owner....SOM NEVER gave us the FRENZY we paid for and REFUSES to compensate us by awarding us a CREDIT for receiving a product other than that which we paid for....can somebody say FRAUD????

they haven't even sent me a Christmas card or Hope you're feeling better card....NOTHING....UNACCEPTABLE CUSTOMER SERVICE...many of you will remember me as the author of the "ALL I WANT FOR CHRISTMAS..." strands I ran here on the boards back in August and October....I defended SOM.....not any more....there lack of response or responsibilty to the whole affair is unprofessional.... I'm disappointed in SOM and their lack of customer care....I will NEVER defend and/or promote SOM again....I have nothing more to say concerning the matter.
