This is the ranking of the qualified National League leaders for the Power-Speed number during the 1971 season. When you look at this group of players, you can see players with a combination of both power and speed. That's why I was caught by surprise when I learned that my most recent selection, Bob Bailey, ranked number 7 that season. He had 13 SBs that season, the most he ever had in one season. His Power-Speed number that season was 13.5; it was 8.5 for the 1970 season, and 8.7 for the 1972 season.
I never thought of Bailey as being a speedster; that's why I was so surprised by this ranking.
