There is no real "average" pick time.
Most of your picks can be made before you are even on the clock. Those picks are more or less instant.
Even first time managers will be making many picks instaneously... some picks are just no-brainers.
On the other side, using the full clock 5 times in draft shouldn't upset anyone, although the experienced managers will probably do it 2 or less times per draft.
For the fraction of picks which are not instant, you need to regroup a bit.
Once you are 20 seconds into pick, you pretty much aren't going to make a perfect pick.
At that point, its time to focus on taking someone who will help the team period.
Especially in the late rounds when you are picking guys that are getting 40-50 ABs or 30 IPs over the season.
Because if you are 40 seconds into a paticular pick, everyone in the draft room knows you don't know who you want and already know the pick thats coming will be underwhelming.
