Poll for 2014 Tournament

We would like to give our 2014 Barnstormers some ownership in the upcoming tournament.
Please consider answering the following question so that we can make the tournament even
better.

There should be one uncapped and one capped live draft. Two different skill sets.

Prelims should be:

60 MM no DH / 140 MM DH (choice)
80 MM no DH
80 MM DH
100 MM DH

100 MM no DH Live
999 MM DH Live

Maximum variation in strategies and skills. No duplication!

Not everyone has time to do a live draft ... people have busy lives, they set up teams when they are able. It's nice to show off a new toy, but Strat should not drive off potential customers who simply do not have time to participate in a live draft.

I agree with the fact that its hard to get time for a live draft. I loved the 2013 Barnstormers, and the only thing I would change is have at least 2 of the limited card sets, and have at most 100 MM for drafting, although 80 MM is better. Its good to have to make some tough choices when creating a team. The 140 MM is just silly, as every high priced player is taken, which doesn't show near as much skill...

I agree with mwelter and tomwistar. No way can SOM's time-limited live draft accommodate all managers, without putting some at a disadvantage due to schedule conflicts.

With such short pick times, arranging blocks of time for drafts that would work for everybody would be problematic at best, and relying on proxies for an hour or two basically means missing the draft. Barnstormers live in practically every time zone on the planet, and many work full time jobs that don't allow SOM at work, and must also juggle family and other obligations.

Amazing and sad (and too predictable) that after all this time, SOM still does not come up with a live draft that works for tournament play as well as Diamond Dope or the old Penngray/MajorDeegan site.

Would like to see at least 1 live draft event. I certainly understand that some may find it difficult to to make the scheduled draft, but the auto pick feature should mitigate that issue and in my case would probably do a better job. I also think we should do a 200 mil 24 team round. All of the best players get taken. You get 1/2 of the guys you draft if your lucky, and it absolutely forces you to make trades to shore up your roster. It's a;so fun to play where money is not much of an object.

About time we out a LIVE DRAT in this thing.

However, to make our time spent mean something - we need to put some rule in that you can't turnover your entire team post draft..., else, defeats the purpose

Live drafts are fun, but the time constraints make it impossible for everyone to get together and do it quickly. If Strat had an iPhone/Android app for it, it would make it simpler, but at this time it would most like drag out the process. It only takes one person in a league to screw it up.

Sorry, I would probably enjoy a live draft but there are many weeks where I just couldn't do it- out of the country or whatever.

I would vote with several others against the live draft, on the grounds that it might be hard to find a workable time in many cases.
