Candelaria was Orta's best friend. Lots of Flyballs. Three left-handers in your rotation may have allowed Orta less opportunities than normal. Anyway, he made significantly less errors (16) than expected(22).

I think there's a big theoretical question here. There are a lot of .5M+ players in ATG7 who were solid regulars in real life. Could it be an excellent value move to let one of them play a full season and put the money elsewhere? Or platoon two really cheap guys.

I have sometimes used really cheap DH platoons even at 100M. That avoids the defensive hit while achieving the cost / value benefits.

I like Orta best as a pinch hitter in the ninth inning.
