Masters I Tournament

Description: This is a 24 team Master's Tournament for any advanced player who has made the final 12 in any Barnstormer's Tournament. The first league will be 999M, followed by bi-monthly leagues of 60M, 80M, 100M, and 140M, with different themes. There will be a continual ranking system of one point per regular season or playoff win, going back to the previous five seasons. The original founding members will have first chance at joining future leagues.

The live draft will be Sunday night, Feb 16. Details are listed on the private league section. If barnstormer finalists (from any season) do not fill the league by Feb 5, then the league will be open to all.

Bruce, you probably haven't done any live drafts yet but the 120 sec time limit is really ill-advised given that 24 teams are drafting,and especially since all the managers will be quite experienced. Even at 45 sec it will probably take at least 2.5 hours, 3 hours minimum at 60 seconds. The draft interface can be learned in about two minutes via mock drafts, so I strongly urge you to reconsider the time limit.

OK, good point and I agree. I will change to 45 seconds. I may have to abort the league and start over.

OK, Changes are Feb 16, 9 PM EST, 45 seconds, 24 teams. I have had many confirm that they are joining, so we should see some fast growth as we get closer to the Feb 16 date. If we do not get 24, I will switch to 12 owners. This will be very competitive league so I hope that some of our best will join.

I'm interested. A couple of quick logistical questions:

1) Do you anticipate that every round will be a live draft?
2) Have you determined the the themes for the subsequent rounds?
3) Will any of the other rounds be shuffle drafts? (I tend to prefer shuffles, as players can't necessarily rely on their standard favorites, and it reduces the prevalence of extreme teams. The feedback for the shuffle round in Barnstormers this past year seemed to be very good).
4) Will there be some sort of requirement regarding ballparks, as there is in Barnstormers?

1. Yes, every draft will take place bi-monthly on the second Sunday night of each month, 9 PM EST.

2. I am going to allow the 24 members to suggest, nominate, and vote for each theme.

3. Shuffle rounds are encouraged (as I like them myself), but it depends upon the group vote.

4. There are no ballpark requirements for the first round, but the group will decide ballpark requirements for the 2nd round.

5. (additional) We will always attempt to recruit the strongest owners. We will have two deadlines. The first deadline is for owner strength, decided upon by the requirements of the group. The second deadline (if the 24 does not fill) is open to the entire community. Exception: The requirement for the first tournament is barnstormer finalist. Finalists have until Wed, Feb 5 to enter. After that, we will open to the entire community. Once a person is in, he stays in, as long as he meets the deadline entrance requirements.

Wednesday is the last day for Barnstormer finalists to reserve their spot. Spots are only reserved by entering the league. Late Wednesday night, we will open the league up to everyone. Good luck!

The Masters Tournament is now open enrollment to any owner of any level who would like to join. We have 9 entered with 15 more to go. The live draft will occur on Feb 16. Hope to see you there!

I'm in - though HAL may have to draft for me if my kids' hockey baseball basketball volleyball cheer schedules interfere. (In HAL I trust!)
