HAL, sometimes I loathe you

PostTue Feb 11, 2014 9:35 am

Horrible start to my season aside, what the HAL is going on?

Sometimes I miss things so I'm looking for extra sets of eyes on this one;

http://onlinegames.strat-o-matic.com/game/348625/3

Sandy Alomar pinch hits for Hassler in top of the 8th, I'm good with that. Then stays in the game at 3rd base for the bottom of the 8th! Replacing Dandridge(1e10)?! Obviously had no bearing on the beating I took but c'mon!...And no doubt that vote of no-confidence was in Dandridge's head when he committed an error in the very next game!

Actually, a logical decision we have the luxury of seeing a players (def) ratings and assume that player should not be replaced. In this instance Dandridge made the last out of the inning. Classic double switch, so I would think in this case an okay move...Just my opinion

thank for the second opinion...a classic double switch yes, but not just for the sake of making the double switch. I don't see this happening in a real baseball situation. Yes we do have the luxury of seeing def ratings, but so too does a manager know which player is better defensively , not to mention taking the better bat (unlikely to matter I know) out of the lineup...also, just my opinion...thanks again

Still, we have come a long ways -- I remember when you could have Brooks Robinson himself sitting on the bench, and HAL would go ahead and take any and every opportunity to put John Roseboro and is 5e62 in there on the hot corner...

and the #1 HAL complaint -The constant urge to attempt to steal bases behind and late usually with a lead foot.
