I can guarantee you that there wouldn't be a "Cesar Cedeno" on the first page of players sorted by salary. Who would be there a truly the best players to have played the game. I'm not against the individual season cards, but I am interested in an alternative at this point that doesn't include players who really aren't ATG players.
How would you define "average"? Like baseball-reference.com's 162-game average? How then to determine injury possibilities? Rarely does anyone ever hit or pitch to their "average". In essence, what you would create is "another year", but a year that never existed.
ATG as you probably know started off as "All Time Great" teams that resemble all teams (a combination of stars and scrubs), giving us players that you would like to see assigned to the dustbin of baseball history or at least of ATG. ATG has come to include individual players rather than team rosters, perhaps a mistake because the same scrubs appear again and again on people's teams. I would argue for more new scrubs, mixed in with some different seasons for stars.
Why shouldn't Cesar Cedeno be on the first page? His 72 year was a thing of beauty as was 73. Shouldn't that be rewarded rather than a hypothetical year? To take Cedeno's case, a 162-game average would mean that he would relatively injury-free, which was far from the case in his career: he had a the fragility of a thoroughbred and the beauty of one, too. That should be there, I would argue by bringing in the 1973 card with almost the same slashline but with the spectre of injury.
I probably won't convince you, but as I said in all respect count me out.

You're right....you won't convince me, but that doesn't mean I don't respect your opinion and I appreciate the dialogue. But yes, that's exactly how I would define the average. I would argue its a truer reflection of a player's career than any 1 specific season.
Again, I don't have a problem with the single season sets, this would be an alternative to a saturated game. I have no problem with Cedeno being on the first page with the cards set up the way they are now. What I was saying is he wouldn't be there on the career version and some players, like myself, would find that more realistic in playing with true all time greats. I'm not suggesting getting rid of ATG 7 as your making it sound, simply asking for a new variation in what we've been playing that could possibly generate new life into the game.
Injuries could simply be handled as all other stats would be, by averaging out games missed over a players career. Also a better reflection of a player's durability than any single season would be. So Cedeno's card would be far from injury free as you say. It would be right in line with his career averages just like every other stat would be.
