Hey guys,
There are a few things I wanted to mention today. First, the Barnstormer's tournament is currently taking signups for the 2014 tournament. You can learn more about the 2014 Barnstormers tour at the following link: http://onlinegames.strat-o-matic.com/tournament/19. To sign-up you can e-mail the commissioner of the Tournament at moose@sirmightymoose.com or by following this link and signing up here. The first event for the tournament begins on March 24th and March 31st. However the lowest score of the tournament is dropped, the official deadline to sign up is for the 2nd event beginning on April 28th and May 5th.
The following schedule will be used:
Event 1 – 100 Mil – DH – Autodraft – Start Dates – 3/24 and 3/31
Event 2 – 60 Mil – NO DH – Autodraft – Start dates 4/28 and 5/5
Event 3 – 80 Mil – NO DH – Autodraft – Start Dates 5/26 and 6/2
Event 4 – 140 Mil – DH – Autodraft – Start Dates 6/30 and 7/7
Event 5 – 200 Mil – DH – Autodraft – Start Dates 7/28 and 8/4
Event 6 – 100 Mil NO DH – Autodraft – Start Dates 9/8 (only)
Semi-Finals – TBD
Finals – TBD
Remember, additional prizes are awarded for the tournament. The champion will receive 4 tickets to a baseball game of your choice and the Strat-O-Matic board or Windows game. The runner-up will also receive 2 tickets to a baseball game. In addition to the standard credits per league, for each each event an extra credit is given to the user with the best record per stadium grouping.
In other news, Quick Draft has been added to the site. Best for new players or those who don't have the time of selecting 25 individual players in an Auto List Draft, you can start with a 25 player list with the simple click of a button. Now when starting a team in an Auto List Draft league, you will see an option to "Fill out your Draft List instantly..." right below your team information. To use the Quick Draft just click this button. You will be asked if you want to play with the DH or not and also the balance you want between hitting and pitching. This will determine how much of your salary cap is used for batters and pitchers, the standard being 60/40 in favor of hitters with options between 70/30 - 50/50.
After submitting your options your draft card will automatically populate with 25 players. If you wish you can then edit this list by removing some players and adding others or simply re-run the Quick Draft. Once you are happy with your roster you can move on to Step 2: Rank your Players.
Another new feature coming will be the addition of 6-team leagues. Just as the old National and American leagues used to play, the best record gets the Pennant no playoffs are required. Those lesser used player sets such as 1999 will be able to fill a little quicker now. Look for more info with an official announcement in the coming days.
