It's a very busy time of year for me at work, which is why I got this point up on the boards , so that it wouldn't be a last minute debate.

As for conflict, I might as well resign from either the commish role or declare myself ineligible - I do not intend to do either thing.

The fact is that it was always going to be a draft. That was the default.

The complaint from another semifinalist is just that - that a draft was always the plan , and that it's not fair to change now.

I am listening to your comments . I invite as many of you to comment as you wish, either by post here or by PM.

I am not able to copy and paste at the moment , but it was always intended to be a draft.

That said , I'm waiting on a few things, and were a couple of weeks away. Sometime time is a variable, and may make debates moot. So let's not any of us get to uptight yet

But I am listening to all opinions and concerns.

I'm not sure if I'll make it in the tourney--6 games up with 15 to play so I feel confident--but I've seen bad stretches before. However, my vote would be autodraft. I realize it has been said that the live draft would be the final, but, I've I've been against it the whole time. I don't really understand the live draft and how it works with a salary cap and would hate to use it for the 1st time in the finals--I will since it was initially said that would be the case, but, at that time I didn't think I'd have a remotely realistic chance to make it to the finals so I figured why worry too much about something that wouldn't come to pass.

Could do a limited draft on the boards, say 6 or 8 rounds plus stadium then auto

Yes, this could be a good compromise solution - i.e. drafting on these discussion threads. I'm even thinking fewer rounds, followed by an auto draft. We'll keep track of players already picked on these boards. By keeping it to a few rounds, we'll keep the "cumbersome" factor to an acceptable level.

1. We aren't even sure if the live draft system *with longer turns* (essential in my view) would be available.
2. We won't all be familiar with the new live draft system yet.
3. There is no reason why we can't get comfortable with a limited scale live draft on the boards.

As to the "why a live draft" question:

1. Some players were counting on it as a reward for a high finish.
2. It removes some of the "luck factor" in an auto draft - especially with regards to what happens when you don't get the player you wanted - then you can make your own ideal replacement selection.
3. At least with a limited draft on the boards, you can select the key players that will be the foundation of your team.

In short, I think it's the best possible way to do it.

Works for me, Geoff. I liked your earlier suggestion of a ballpark round and 3 player rounds. Or combine them, pick the ballpark in any round, for a bit more strategy.

How are the teams being seeded for the finals? I scanned the posts and I wasn't clear. Are we using the season points or just the playoff round. Looking good that I will make it to the Finals. My vote is for the autodraft. Only cuz that is what I know.
Interested in live drafts. But seems as if it is a whole new game. I'm always up for a challenge so I will keep an eye out for what ever is decided.
Looks like I will make the 3 spot in my playoff league. Using a few injury prone players and want to figure out if I should rest them before the playoff round with 6 games to go.

The seeding is determined based on the regular season points. I'll recap the seeding for the finals after the end of the semi-final regular season, tomorrow night (!).

By the way, we're having a crazy close race to the playoff spots in league #2. What a great league that's been! Super close!

League 1 is super tight as well for the WC. I have a 1-gm lead but there is another team 2 games back as well. I do own the tiebreakers so if we win 2 tomorrow night, we're in. Swept 1st place team tonight to get this far, been a very tough road...

If we're still voting, I'd vote to keep the whole tournament as regular autodraft. I've never done a live draft and would prefer not to make the PC finals my first one, but I will certainly do whatever the group decides.

I don't want to jinx myself, because I've not clinched, but put me in the SHORT LIVE DRAFT -- four players and a park? -- camp. For the following reasons:

1- For the finals, it rewards the guy who had the best point total during the season (that's not me by a long shot, btw).
2- I'd rather be able to pick a few guys I KNOW I'd like to have than rely on the Autodraft, where I might not get anybody.
3- Shouldn't the Finals be a bit special, a bit different than what's come before?
