New six team league prize structure??

Interesting that Mr. Garcia, in his most recent locked blog post, fails to mention the prize structure for the new, quick 6 leagues. Presumably this is because they plan to award only one credit to the league winner, thus reducing the amount of "prizes" by 50% relative to standard 12 team leagues. Hopefully I'm wrong, but if not, we are looking at just another self-serving example of STRAT biting the hand that feeds it.

From the rules:

For 6-team leagues:

- The team with the best record at the end of the regular season: receives 1 free credit

I thought the 6 team might be interesting/a nice addition but with that prize structure........no thanks.

On the other hand, at least you won't run the risk of having a 95 win team knocked out in the first round of the playoffs by a wild card and earning zero credits

I do not see any difference. Either 2 of 12 teams or 1 of 6 teams win a free team. Either way, there is a 16.67% chance of earning free play.

1 in 12 get 2 credits vs 0 of 6 get 2 credits.

3 credits per 12 teams vs 1 credit per 6 teams

I wouldn't mind the 1 credit system if the price of the 6 team league were $14.99....I haven't looked but I'm guessing its not.

I can see the 6 team leagues having the opposite of the intended effect unless they beef up the prize or cut the price. They'll slow down the filling of the larger leagues.

No, the SMARTER solution would be to award the runner-up (second most wins) a FULL credit too. Leagues will fill faster. SOM can offset the slight increase in credit pay out by not having overhead associated with running playoffs.

Moose, as usual, is 1000% correct - skimping on credits doesn't serve SOM well
Either give an extra credit for 2nd place or have a 2 team playoff and award a credit for that
