My 2012 sleeper card was Corey Hart. He had a 4.96 million dollar salary but at least for me he did much better. He did it all, even had a little speed and decent defense. Offensively he anchored at least one of my championship teams and he was in the top couple of slots for MVP.

So far with the 2013 cards I have not learned as much yet but Chase Utley seems like a nice bargain, just make sure you have a decent backup.

It's still early but there are two cards I really like this year that are <$4M.

For background, one of my quick-glance evaluations I perform is to simply add up the OB and TB for a hitter vs LHP and RHP, apply a 40%/60% weighting respectively, and then sort by that total. It's a very easy way to identify the true stud hitters. I then compare it against salaries in the game and whether or not a player is "playable" in a certain role.

My two favorites are:

Omar Infante - a 2e14 at 2B and he ranks 21st on the list (gotta live with the 3 injury, however). He's $3.66M
Moises Sierra - unplayable at anything but DH, but he ranks 24th on the list for $3.18M

For additional perspective, Adrian Beltre is ranked 23rd, and Robinson Cano is 25th.

I like Omar Infante too!..

G.Brookes, I could see using Reyes against RHP in a platoon, especially because he is cheap and gets on base, like you point out. If the other half of the platoon is a better glove he could also serve as the defensive replacement. It would probably have to be an 80 million dollar or LESS league for it to work...

I have a team with both. We will see. Just need to have an ok backup for Infante.

Also like Boesch as a pinch hitter or DH platoon.

Boesch/Baker DH platoon would cost 2.75. That's a lot of hitting for that price.

How bout Yelich!

I know he's over $ 5 million, but what a platoon card vs RHP! His OB% vs RHP is off the charts, and he doesn't hit into DPs much - what a great player to get on base before a slugger!

Also like Andrus, who is just under $5 million and a 1 range at SS. Gotta like that. Great speed, and OB% is OK -not great, but OK.

A Baker platoon with anyone is going to be a lot of hitting.

Have Sierra on my first 13 team. Hasn't done much yet, but only 24 games in. I do like that card for the price. Also seems like there are a ton of good shortstops this year at just about any price point.

I had put a team together before this thread picked up and had already snagged Infante and Sierra as guys I thought were great values. We'll see how it goes with them in AT&T.

But, you guys are going to have to keep it quiet. I missed a live draft (stupid work getting in the way) and cobbled this team together after all was said and done. Now that you've gone and talked about them, I won't be able to find Infante and Sierra anymore in cases like that...

Infante has only played in 10/30 games for me so far (only 38 AB in those 10 games), so can't give him a glowing report yet....
