From the draft thread regarding calling up prospects in lieu of making (a) final draft pick(s):

No language in there that I can discern that would prevent a promotion:)

I'm pretty sure we've gone through this before (but it could have been a different league), and it was determined that you can't promote a prospect in lieu of a draft pick because it effectively allows you to keep 21 active players (or however many you knock off the back of the draft). I'd be ok if those were the rules (e.g., make your prospect call ups your end of draft picks), but this seems to go counter to the intent of the rules. Let's move this off the draft thread.


We may need more clear language on calling up prospects prior to the launch of the season. Any opinions on whether we should be able to swap our last draft picks for prospect call-ups?

I think this year we should not allow it (you must have a 30 man roster at the end of the draft completed through the draft), but am open in future years.

If you really want to call someone up you can make an unbalanced trade.

Yes, a prospect promotion cannot be completed until the regular season. Otherwise, you could just promote right after the draft and keep more players. Dunno, who posted for you to do that. But, you have to make another pick.
