I think a promotion goes against the rules as they have to be done at the time of drops. I could be wrong but I think it has to be a fa pick and not a promotion.

I think a promotion goes against the rules as they have to be done at the time of drops. I could be wrong but I think it has to be a fa pick and not a promotion.

I don't think it is against the rules, but I could be wrong if I missed an amendment or misinterpreted something along the way. Here is what I saw in the rules:

PLAYER MOVEMENT
5) Prospects can be promoted to the major league roster at any time, provided there is roster space available. Once promoted all prospects lose their prospect status, and cannot be demoted back to prospect status.

PROSPECT PLAYERS
3) Prospects can be activated and promoted to the major league roster during the regular season provided there is roster space available to do so. Players with a full 30 man roster cannot promote a prospect until there is room available to do so.

4) Regular players on the 30 man roster cannot be released in order to promote a prospect while a season is in progress.

True, however then it would really make more sense to keep any prospects you might want to promote as prospects until after tyhe draft starts essentially using them as your last picks.

I'm pretty sure we've gone through this before (but it could have been a different league), and it was determined that you can't promote a prospect in lieu of a draft pick because it effectively allows you to keep 21 active players (or however many you knock off the back of the draft). I'd be ok if those were the rules (e.g., make your prospect call ups your end of draft picks), but this seems to go counter to the intent of the rules. Let's move this off the draft thread.
