I honestly don't understand why so many people bash this game?

Nev's traditional "I'm quitting" declaration #427. But you retire without winning Barnstormers, and that will forever haunt you.

To win Barnstormers, you have to be good enough to get there, and lucky enough to win the playoffs.

Many are bored with this game, because it has not changed in two years. Price changes, player additions and subtractions etc. are needed to keep the game fresh. Another competitive sim changes the prices and adds new players every six months. This keeps the game fresh. Changes in price produce new values and a different game.

New cards are about the only thing that will restore my interest in ATG, and not like the pathetic infusion of 16 months ago. But a revised pricing model certainly wouldn't hurt either. Not that I'm holding my breath that SOM would either listen to the ATG community or even act in the interests of themselves making money. I think Harold Richman is too set in his ways, clinging to the quaint notion that because he created a company that has survived for 50+ years that this imbues him with a certain strategic infallibility regarding his business model. Of course this is pure hubris and a certain lose-lose strategy for ATG and SOM.

Nev, if you must depart, could you at least transfer your remaining credits to me? I'm sure Bernie owes you at least that much.

Nev doesn't ever truly depart, he just disappears for a little while until a topic comes up in here where he can 1. Bash SOM - or 2. Boast about all of his teams or post about them until he thinks about it and then deletes it.

I'm still incrementing the "I quit" counter.

Respectfully of course, we like ya Nev. ;)

It's simple HATERS gonna HATE

Otherwise, they really love the game and are afraid to show it. My wife says it's okay to be sensitive when no one else is watching. :D

There are actually 3 different communities: ATG, 20xx one-offs, and 20xx keepers (either retro or current). For me, the keepers are the best of both worlds, since most leagues run with 2- or 3-hour draft clocks, you get to pick your own guys and build teams for the long run.

Live Draft should be held after ballparks and divisions are known. Then no waiver and instant free agent penalty. To me that is a test of skill.

You could be right, but to me, the tinkering with your team is the most fun part of the online experience
