looking to move up in the draft. also is there a better way to make trade offers besides private messages? is player movement from extra/minor leg. to active roster unlimited? of course with 10% hit. I guess what i am asking going into a series I can choose between 25 of the 40 guys meeting SOM roster requirements?

PM, email or league mail during regular season play can all be used. Some managers pay more attention to one mode over another.

See "rosters" section of rules. Player movement within a $200 mil cap is essentially unlimited, except as stated in the league rules.

The current draft rules are:

FREE AGENT
12) Effective with the 2012 card set, we will start the annual free agent draft on June 1, with no clock in 1st round of any drafts after that, whether free agent, supplemental, or prospect.

PROSPECT
2) Effective with the 2012 season, we will hold a prospect draft after the annual free agent draft, with managers drafting up to 2 prospects per year -- prospects are those players who have never received a card yet and draft sequence will be random and serpentine.

I know that nobody has posted an objection to starting the drafts earlier than June 1, but it would probably be good to update the rules anyhow.

I will be participating in a 1958 (offline) draft starting this week, to be followed by a retro keeper 2009 draft that I'll be running right after that. That's why I suggested May 1 as our new start date. After the failed attempt to change the prospect rules and draft start date, though, I wonder if we might approve something like...

The prospect draft will begin PRIOR TO the free agent draft, as soon as all managers have checked in and posted their drops and promotions for the new season.
